Impassioned --colorful later bloomer

Comments (19)GETTING AIRBORNE, never disappoints even in years of drought. Tall, massive plant with sturdy scapes, great bud count, hardy and vigorous, huge blooms, dark velvet purple. Clumps up quickly. I've divided it several times in the last few years but somehow it's always a big clump. The only negative is I've yet to get a mature pod off it but pollen is strong. GLORY IN RED, an oldie but goodie. Strong thick scapes, high bud count, blooms appear larger than registered size, will set pods if you wave pollen in the air....LOL GREYWOODS SHADES OF LACE, admittedly this was brand new in 2022 but you gotta love a daylily when the 2 tiny fans pump out multitudes of blooms much larger than the plant! I have high hopes for this one. GOLDEN GLOBE, Kate gave me a piece of hers and I second her nomination. It is a great daylily with amazing color. Like Kate and most of you, I really like Laura Harwood. and also had trouble choosing one photo since she is such a showoff. Life Unlimited, another really nice one: Little Light of Mine: Always a showoff here: I am glad yours is doing well and sorry yours didn't bloom this year, Debra. Louisiana Jones: I just really like the blooms on this one: Long Legged Lap Dancer: It looks like a bitone here due to the heat I suppose: nice bloomer too. I too love Lady Dragon, Kate, but mine is too new to know how well it will do here. Mantis, I like Love 'n Loujean and Lovestruck Linda. Lavender Dew is a pretty one Brad. Comments (19)Mister Mayor is indeed vigorous and floriferous. Mystery of the Ages here looks very promising. Martha Edson Norris, though short, is very showy with its large blooms. My Pet Dragon looks interesting. An acquaintance likes that one the best among Selmans in that range. Malaysian Marketplace is early here; rather slow to multiply. I see that Mediterranean Sailor is a Hanson out of Benchmark. Some others I certainly would recommend. Minnesota Nice --a vigorous and floriferous Emmerich I very much like the color of Mexicali Blues (Rice), but bud count is limited. Mahogany Magic --an evergreen that is well budded. There may have been some slightly-off years, but definitely not last year. Some people don't like this color. I definitely do. Magnetic Springs (Hanson). Clean here this past year and an appealing color. Of course, Morning Mood, though it is front row. Makayla Jenelle --good performer and color from Floyd Boatwright Mitch Lynd, Money Maker, Man Eater, and Miss Moneypenney are also worthy of consideration, but I have already posted too many....See MoreYour 5 best N daylilies 2023
Comments (17)My Navajo Pony does lean. This may be partly due to location-it only gets morning sun. I think Kay ’s plant does better. You can see the scapes leaning here New Paradigm-normally would not make the cut but had more color this past season It usually looks washed out like this No Boys Allowed Hopefully Sherry won’t take my alphabet posting privileges away for posting this! 2 months agoImpassioned is one of our favorites--wonderful daylily. I need to add Isabelle Rose. It looks fabulous.
I had too many I's but since Mantis posted a picture of Impassioned, I won't.
I Lava You isn't at clump strength yet, but it looks promising.

Illinois Jacquet Flies Again is a huge flower.
Itsy Bitsy Spider is just yellow, but it is one of my favorite diploid small-flowered daylilies. It makes a huge clump and the scapes and nice and tall.
As you can see, we are getting into the uf and spider types, both tet and dip.Nancy

Mantis, I like all of these but my favorites are Ideological Worldview and In Living Color.
Nancy, My favorites are If It Only Had a Porche, It Stops at Yard Sales and I lava You.
Indian Giver. I've had it a long time and I never get tired of it. No wonder I use it to hybridize.
In High Regard. It was only the first year but from what I've heard I have high hopes.
I only have one other I, Ice Carnival. It is relatively reliable but nothing exceptional.Brad

I don't have many 'I's' it seems. I agree that Indian Giver and I Lava You are great plants so I won't repeat those two.
IN HIGH REGARD, I can only sing the praises of this one if you want the perfect diploid. Tall, well-budded, fertile, blooms into the late season when others are fading. Clumps up quickly and has excellent foliage.
INCREASED COMPLEXITY, does very well for me here, produced great seedlings for me with great clarity of color and good plant habits.
INQUIRE WITHIN, an older Hanson that always seems to be in bloom. Good performance year after year.
INCENDIARY, it's hard to believe that a Maryott intro makes the cut most years. Early on in my daylily addiction I bought a lot of Maryott's and they are mostly long gone. This one has always been a good plant for me. Has been divided multiple times, podded up every year, and still increases well and has lots of blooms/scapes.
INVENTIONThis one took forever to get going and I almost gave it away. Being a dip it has very wispy foliage and when I ordered it, it came as 2 teensy fans. Finally this year it did very well but who knows about next year!

I'm Gonna Love You Through It was much taller than registered last year and had buds in the high teens.
I Lava You is usually very well-branched and budded, but not so much last year. It reblooms for me.
Ice Cream Emperor is always a favorite in the early season.
Indian Ripple even managed to rebloom last year, despite the horrible heat and the lack of rain. It doesn't normally rebloom for me.
Irresistible You had super bud count two seasons ago. It was quite a bit lower last year.

2 months agoEven though there have been other postings of IN HIGH REGARD, I decided to add mine to the mix. It is one of my favorites in the garden. It is such a clean looking flower.
ISABELLE ROSE: Perfection!!! I am frequently disappointed by the Stout Medal winners, but not this one!
INQUIRE WITHIN: Another outstanding plant. I love the color combination and plant habit is not too shabby. It is well branched and budded.
INDY SHOCKER: Not the best picture. This is the most difficult daylily bloom to photograph regardless of the lighting conditions. It is a well branched and budded plant. Blooms for a long time. The only drawback is that it is slow to increase.
Honorable Mentions:
IRON WARRIOR: A newer Bennett intro. It is a big bloom. I am hoping that it continues to put out blooms like this.
IT'S THE RAGE: Hoping that it gets taller, but I like the teeth.

And In the Heart of It All is very reliable, has rebloomed some years--a large flower with good substance.
