Paint Design Dilemma Kitchens

Has anyone used Edgecomb Gray with Kraftmaid warm white cabinets?

I'm struggling to come up with a wall color for my kitchen and laundry room that is being remodeled. The cabinets are Kraftmaid warm white. I'm looking at BM edgecomb gray.

If that doesn't work I'll probably just go with an off white color. I already have Taj Mahal quartzite countertops picked out.

We used Edgecomb with cream cabinets and LOVE it. (This isn't the best photo showing the paint color. )

All of the main rooms of the house are Edgecomb and Dover white on all trim and doors. Clean and classic. Very easy to decorate with punches of color in pillows and accessories. LOVE it!

Our cabinets aren't cream but we do have edgecomb gray in every room and love it! It is more beige in natural light and cooler in artificial light but I think it would work. Here’s a pic of how it looks with wood cabinets and natural light and in artificial light with a cream colored vase.

After everything is installed, sample EG and other colors if that doesn't look right to you. There is a lot of variety in stones and we don't know what your slab looks like, so no one can really tell you what will work. It also depends on what direction the light is coming from. You don't have to paint until everything else is installed. I have EG in my MB which has light coming from the north and west. As mojavemaria says, it looks gray or beige depending on the light, so it might work for you - definitely worth sampling. If anything I would say it leans more beige than gray, despite the name of the color.

Thanks, loribee and CLBlakey! It turns out we'll need to modify some cabinets and also the apron on my granite counters (who knows what that's hiding) in order to switch out the appliances. The PO remodeled and actually blocked in the appliances when installing the floor and counters after. Crazy. I'm considering whether I want to spend the extra money to make these changes and just refurbish my existing cabinets or save up for a complete remodel next summer. If we remodel we can get an updated look and also address some issues with the current layout. Obviously, a big cost difference but I'm not sure about spending money now to modify what I have if I'm still going to want a full remodel within a few years. If I do paint my existing cabinets, though, I'm definitely leaning towards the Edgecomb Gray! Donna - I don't think I'll stain the cabinets because my kitchen is already so dark and I truly lust over lighter kitchens but thanks so much for the link!

Probably similar to this. Either way, the ONLY way to tell is to find a door, paint it satin finish in Edgecomb. Put it with your selections, flooring, tops etc.. I'd advise limiting it to wall color and an ISLAND. At some point......it's a big commitment for the entire fitted kitchen. Warm and inviting, certainly.

Designers ???? I need pictures to see the space . All the elements you state in my head do not work together so I need a visual. BTW I always tell my clients to address lighting before choosing anything so my advics right now is make sure all the lighting is LED I like 4000K to have no yellow cast

I have Edgecomb Gray on most of the walls in our home (3 stories, 5500 sq ft). My cabinet and trim color is Benjamin Moore Vapor. To me, it is a rich, understated palette that is easy to work with. You can bring in color through furnishings, art, accessories, etc., but the rooms still flow well together.

Cline11163 Did Edgecomb end up looking more beige than gray in your kitchen? We put SW accessible beige on the walls yesterday as a test and it's darker than I wanted, but is leaning more beige than gray which I want.

My husband is going to put EG on walls today to compare. Thanks!!

Hi -- it looks more beige in our house because we have a lot of creams and white in the decor. Anything that has grey or black brings more of the grey tones out. I hope that is helpful.
