I'm headed to Benjamin Moore to try for a color match using their matching equipment. I have never loved a color matched paint before... but there seems to be no choice in the matter. I am told the rules are that you MUST match the trim to the cabinets... and I dare not accidentally introduce some new/different undertones OR ELSE! I anticipated choosing white wall and trim paint would be easy - HA! Nope. Apparently, there are six thousand white paint colors. And the rules of engagement are TIGHT. I'm sitting here with a sample piece of cabinet and four color decks from BM and SW. None of the whites look like a match. And, sorry to say, the Pure White by SW mentioned above? It looks especially mismatched to Kraftmaid Dove White. I wish Kraftmaid would either let their color formula out or provide healthier paint options. My Kraftmaid cabinet doors all came smelling like fresh spraypaint and needed to be remediated with a hydroxyl generator before they stopped making my VOC meter sing! KM certainly needs to step up their supposed "twice oven cured" process. Anyhow, it was terrible, and I want nothing to do with bringing a fresh Kraftmaid gallon of nightmares in to our home. I want matching trim, not the VOC levels of a meth lab.

Thank you both, the decision has been made, primer is going on as I type. I ended up choosing Valspar Holmes Cream, part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation collection. It is exactly what I had in mind, several shades darker than the hood, leaning a little towards the golden tan of the SW Cookie Crumb. When I hold the chip up to the Cookie Crumb wall, it appears just a couple of shades lighter, so it matches perfectly. One step forward, two steps back though, I have nixed the combination of Star Beach granite and the multi glass backsplash. Looking at them together, there is just way too much going on and they are competing for attention. As much as I love the backsplash, we have decided we prefer the granite, so I am now looking for a simple, classic design for the backsplash. I haven't given up completely on the multi glass backsplash, I may use it in my son's new kitchen, which I am also remodeling! Thanks again for your replies!

Laurie, Here is a picture of the bathroom with translucent driftwood and Taj. I can't find one right now of the island and we're actually not home. If you want one of the island, I'm more than happy to do that when we get back in a couple of days. Are you looking at Kraftmaid cabinets? I will tell you, we've had ALL kinds of issues! If I were to do this again, which we never will, I would NOT get KM! Especially from the box store we went through. UGH The finished project looks nice, but ........................................ Also, this piece of Taj in the bath is a different slab than the kitchen. It doesn't have as much gray as the kitchen. The kitchen is a nice blend of cool AND warm colors. Bobbi

@cupofkindnessgw sorry for the delay, just seeing this. We went with Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray HC-170. We love the color and ended up painting the living room, hall and bathroom the same color.
