I love the wicker wall plate if you will, but Art would be the way to go and not have clutter. I lso think you have enough candles in this room, on the floor, on the mantel on the coffee table. same with blankets, in the basket on the rack. Try filling the wood nook up all the way might help as well.

I really, really do not want to get rid of the basket, it's the perfect size. If I was going to get art to fill the space that basket holds, it would be too expensive and I already spent a lot on the basket as it is to then just use it in a less "important" spot.

I suppose I'll keep playing around with it.

maybe try laying some leaning art to one side of it.

I'd find another spot to use the basket. It's a giant circle atop otherwise very linear shapes - it competes and doesn't work.

This fireplace surround and entire wall is quite unique. I like the basket you used but the shape is a little off. I think instead of filling the place up with modern looking items and frames you could try to go for a more unique look to fit that wall. Rattan, wood and glass textures in light colors would look really nice here. It has a super earthy feel. I would paint the sides of the fireplace a different color than that dark sage (if you're open to it). The vaulted ceilings really make it look interesting.

The basket is too big for my taste. And the ladder thingie looks clutterish. Like someone is trying too hard to fill every inch with stuff.

I’d get a long and low piece of art to set on the mantel and lean against the wall and then call it good.

It’s a lovely fireplace though.

I really like the basket for the opposite reason that was mentioned; that it breaks up the straight lines & contrasts nicely! I hope you come back & update us on what you decided that YOU liked best!

@Courtney Thomas Design I looked at your Hydrangea Heaven project and am in LOVE with the whole thing! omg it's fabulous! Can you tell me what that lovely green paint color is in the dining room?

I've tried a neutral pallet in my current house but that project is tempting me more towards adding some colors around more, like walls. :)
