Comments (10)murraysmom, we had a full fledged blizzard here last night. It had been raining then snowing since late afternoon, but by a little after 9pm. the wind and snow began big time. It was a white-out for the cars on the highway beyond, they had their flashers on. It continued for 45min. then the wind finally died down. This morning there was at least 3" of snow on the ground and the road out front was ice. Now temp is going up so ice is gone and I see green patches coming out from beneath the snow. The daffodils are flattened. The almanac had called for a blizzard at the end of March, so they weren't far off....See MoreI'll Show Your Mine/You Show Me Yours - Tue 6/19
Comments (18)As a friend for Jim's statues I have the following from Constance, Germany. The story I heard was that a renown local sculptor was asked to make something for the waterfront by the city council. He agreed with the proviso that he could make whatever he wanted, and they would have no right to withdraw their approval. They agreed and got the following which stands on a slowing rotating platform on the edge of Lake Constance The statue supposedly depicts a "courtesan" from history who reputedly had the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and the Pope, figuratively, in the palms of her hands. The naked, wizened, shriveled figures in her up-stretched hands are wearing a crown and a pope hat respectively....See MoreI'll Show You Mine/You Show Me Yours - W 6/5
Comments (24)It is very possible that when you put the camera in the waterproof box, its white balance went awry due to the filtering of the box lens, You also mentioned 'film'. Poor photo results from film photos are common these days, but not because of bad film; Its often due to bad processing. In my area, we are down to one processor. If your film gets processed some time after 8 am on Monday, usually its the best quality of the week. Later in the week, it becomes muddy. Why? This lab starts Monday morning with fresh chemicals in its vats and they are loath to change the vats as often as they should. The make do with makeup replenishment. Depending on how much film they have to process, the baths may get changed a couple of days after Monday, at which time re-newing their work. Results returned to the photo counter at your favorite store is mixed....See MoreI'll show you mine/you show me yours - Su 3/27/22
Comments (12)Taking the Beach Cities exit from State Hwy 60 to S.H. 91 on March 6, to get back to Westchester: There are many different routes we can take between Palm Springs and our house in L.A. and so we try to take the ones with the least traffic on any particular day. I believe Big Bear mountain is in the background. Yesterday I took this route to return to Cathedral City, and there was still a small amount of snow on the tops of the mountains, but it was 91° when I got to Cathedral City, and so if feels like summer has returned. Time to start going back in the pool, which I did not do last winter, as it is too expensive to heat the pool when the weather is 72°....See Morefaftris
