Show Off Your TV: Electronics are Here to Stay. Why Hide Them?
Take Advantage of Your Flat Screen's Sleek, Contemporary Look

While watching an episode of Divine Design one evening, Candice Olson made a statement that changed the way I thought about electronics. She pointed out that they are a part of our modern lives...so why pretend that they don't exist when we're decorating?
I have always been a part of the "hide all hideous electronics in armoire-type furniture" camp. But what Candice said makes complete sense to me. And with the advent of thinner-than-thin flat screens, the options for displaying our televisions are limited only to our imaginations.
Check out some of these great ideas...and quit hiding your electronics!

Sleek and sophisticated, this low console is topped by a matching television. I must admit, I might be distracted by the beautiful view outside the windows of this particular room. But the TV display idea, I like!
Mounting a cold flat screen on warm wood makes for a nice visual contrast.
The television in this room is in plain sight, but becomes secondary because of the furniture arrangement. Try this idea if you want access to the TV, but you don't want it to be a focal point.
Televisions over the fireplace are becoming more commonplace. The nice thing about this room is the long expanse of wood that makes a television that is larger than the fireplace beneath seem not so mammoth.
Can you see the screen in this kitchen? An ingenious idea for incorporating a TV in an unconventional spot like a kitchen...place it up high. After all, how often do you watch movies in the kitchen?
Flat screens lend themselves well to contemporary spaces. This sleek setup is minimalistic and sophisticated.
The texture on the wall behind this television makes the whole wall seem like an art installation.
If you live in a more traditional space, consider making a "focal wall" behind your television with pretty wallpaper.

Built-in cabinetry is a great standby that works just as well with the new electronics of today as it did with the larger models of yesterday.
Another clever idea for a more traditional space. Why not place your set inside a pretty frame?
