Art! I would add a largish piece of framed art that I truly loved (not a mass-produced, generic piece to "match", but something that made my heart sing) and call it good. With the cabinets and closets, I don't think I would want an open storage element there. But art? Art is always the answer!

It would be a perfect spot for a linen cabinet. I'd have one made to match the vanity.

First, think about anything you need functionally: towel storage? A corner seat? If nothing comes to mind that you need, then art.

What about a nice hamper or bench? I would also get wall mounted hooks rather than the over door kind. Could you put the hooks on that wall and maybe one within easy reach of shower?

Agree a smallish linen cabinet would be great - in a previous house we had a vintage glass one filled with white towels but there are new ones that can easily be picked up - scale would be important so know your measurements - you can even mock up a cab with Cardboard boxes to get a sense of how big you want it

I would put a large plant there, unless you need storage.

I agree with roarah, a bench seems like a great solution with a nice piece of art above the bench. Possibly add a full length mirror next to the bench. Great way to add some color.

I did something similar to these photo when I remodeled the bathroom in my previous house, but I used a smaller mirror over the glass "desk" and a smaller stool. It did take a bit of searching to find a small shallow glass desk/console that fit the space. It might be too crowded for your space.

@shirlpp that leads to our bedroom and we will eventually get a modern type sliding door there but will be on the other side so it won't impact this design.

It’s such a luxury to have open space in a bathroom. I would not add a linen cabinet if I didn’t need the storage. I love the ideas for art, and Jennifer Hogan’s suggestion of a full length mirror.

If anyone has any artists they highly recommend, feel free to send them my way - always love finding new ones! I'd rather not go with a big box store piece of "art".

I like whimsical art, and loved a painting featured in a post by Carrie Hearne titled Big Reveal and Reflection. I haven’t figured out how to post a link to it, but if you like the art, perhaps you can do a search with the title under Advice. She wrote that she had the painting commissioned.

For art I like to browse antique stores, art/craft shows, local galleries and out of town galleries. You used to get really nice art pieces at HG/TJ Maxx 15+ years ago, some of it even original. Now the art they carry is just mass produced in China.

I’ve admired dark green in bathrooms. Here are a couple of rooms I saved to my ideabook.

This is deep olive green rather than hunter. I think it’s successful because it has a lot of natural light and a lot of white.

I also love the look of mural wallpaper. There are so many incredible nature scenes with oodles of green. You’d have to make sure your room didn’t get too steamy, though.

Hi Ashley- nice room! I was wondering about your statement about the “modern sliding door from the other side.” Do you mean a barn type door??

I like some sort of seating in a bathroom, be it a sturdy stool or small bench to something more chair like.

Color of bath depends on: other color tones in the house, master bedroom colors. Also, I am seeing a vanity with yellow undertones, grey in tiles and the carpet seems to have some brown undertones. Just make sure any color you choose works.

Load your bathroom up to one of the paint sites and use their visualizer before committing to a color.

I like to create a whole home color palette and use the darker or brighter or more dramatic versions of the colors on bathroom or laundry room walls, but I wouldn't want a random bright or dark color.

Using the accent color from your master bedroom on the walls of the master bath is a great way to tie the rooms together and add drama to the bath.

@Connecticut Yankeeeee - thank you! and yes, something along those lines. Might look funny with the arch but we would hang it higher than the arch. We have a large open wall opposite the bathroom where it would be perfect to open and close.

Thanks for the explanation, Ashley. I was asking about this because sometimes barn type doors don’t offer as much protection against noise and light from the bathroom. It may be something to (re)consider if you and spouse have different sleeping schedules. Nice job so far!

I would paint the walls an interesting color. "Moody green" sounds perfect.
