OMG my Alabaster White looks GREEN!!??? Only on Kitchen Cabinets
Comments (9)Thanks Lori. The color I used in the kitchen and hallways was Shiny Lister by Behr. I used Distant Star in the bathrooms which is more of a blue gray but looks very blue in my master bathroom and grey blue in my downstairs bathroom. I have tile that are cream and I think that is bringing out the blue in my master. I am making the switch to SW Big Chill for hallways and bedrooms and then SW light French gray for bathrooms. The kitchen I am doing SW functional grey. These are all more black/brown undertones so hopefull it will look better! Attached are more photos, you can tell my living room looks lilac and hallways look blue as well as kitchen, and they are all painted Shiny Luster...See MoreWhat brand of under-cabinet LED strip lights do you recommend?
Comments (8)I didn’t do led tape but in my laundry I installed this low profile under cabinet light and really like it. They can be linked together. They are hardwired but you can also order a plug for $10. There’s an on-off switch but I put mine in a wall switch. Also you can direct the light on the unit. And there’s a set here to change from 2700 to 3000 depending on your need and preference. The piece that I’m touching tilts so you can direct the light. The problem I’ve seen with tape light without a shroud is seeing the reflection from the individual diodes. I am going to install WAC tape for above my bathroom cabinets but they are so expensive. I’m still looking for a lower priced option for my shoe cabinet in closet. Too large of a run for the WAC $ Good luck!...See MoreLooking for ideas on how to run under cabinet lighting...
Comments (7)I assume the wire you are running is in wall rated. Is the ceiling already drywalled? Can you access the ceiling joists from above (like from the attic)? As long as you can access the joists, it is no problem drilling and running a wire through joists. Even if you don't have direct access you can use a flexible drill bit to fish through joists as long as the run isn't too long and you know where any plumbing and ducts are. Here's an example of a flex bit. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Klein-Tools-3-8-in-x-72-in-Flex-Auger-Bit-53717/203871767 and a tutorial https://www.familyhandyman.com/electrical/wiring/fishing-electrical-wire-through-walls/ and check the suggestion of running conduit through base cabinets. Fishing wire through the joists is something I avoid (just me and my confidence/skill level) but it is fine to do, even if it can be challenging. If I have access to the joists, then no problem (just get in the attic and do it). It may be a longer run, but is it physically possible to run wire through wall all the way to the desired switch?...See MoreMy new under cabinet lighting visible while sitting in my adjoining fa
Comments (40)Update Spoke to builder and he prefers these since they are longer lasting bulbs. They are led but use regular wire. He feels they provide better task lighting and less failure. The tape lighting sticky tap moves (which a friend has and it does unstick)He suggested I try a strip led light and see how I like it. I picked Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing. 16 ft. White Indoor LED Tape Light w/remote (Plug-in or direct wire) https://www.homedepot.com/p/307883100 It seems that there are a bunch of tiny dots vs several bulbs. The diffuser doesn’t seem to hide the dots. It’s a very stark white vs the lights I have is warmer. He can change them for no cost. He said the tape lights are cheaper than what he installed. It would require changing all of the wiring but luckily the countertop is not installed. Either way I still need the light rail. My builder said people had moved away wanting the light rail but he really thinks it finishes the kitchen Anyone have a specific light that they can post with picks showing how it reflects on a shiny countertop. Thank you small!...See Morejill_beth
