While i'm waiting for my granite...
Comments (4)I love it too!!! There is a smaller coordinating pendant and the semi flush is nice too. The size seems fine to me for two over a 4' island. I was all set to order from that collection and then they brought the island and I thought the styles clashed too much. I know it's good to mix it up a bit, but i wasn't sure if it would be taking it too far??? Does the style look ok with the island?? I know I'm probably thinking too much, but that's why we're here, right???? TKO!!! Comments (26)I love the clean, uncluttered look of your home and you've made some great furniture choices. My first thought, though, is that I would try to rework the sofa/sectional placement. It really is unwelcoming looking to me to have the back where it is facing a wall, when it could be oriented to look into the room and out the windows. It seems like if it were placed in the corner under the stairs that it would feel open and invite you to come in and sit. I'd hate to be cooking in the kitchen and have the family or guests with their backs to me. If you are having a TV in another room close by, do you need one in that room, too? If, so placing a 70" unit will probably only work as you have it. But, to me, it's not going to look like a living room but more like a movie theater, which is fine if that's what you're going for. It seems like it won't be a cozy conversation area, though. I might actually flip the rooms and put the dining room where you have the sofa now. I was looking at lights used with dining rooms and ghost chairs and saw this, maybe would work in the living room? Kind of fun. don't know if it would look as good without the colored walls though. And I thought something like these were interesting to consider for over your table:...See MorePlease look at my new recessed lights...is it just me? serious regrets
Comments (27)Jan Moyer, thank you! Tems, I can't speak for others, but I've only had recessed lighting (in our now demolished kitchen) and would never consider not replacing it. I need a bright kitchen. Recessed lights help illuminate the floor/walkway, as well as add light to the countertops. I'd noticed mine did cause a slight shadow in the front, but not so detrimental to my cooking. However, the addition of 2700 LED's will now (hopefully) remove that, and further brighten my future workspace. I do not find them to be harsh or busy, but again, for the kitchen (and utility/laundry room) I need 'brightness'. Are you suggesting only undercabinet lights, and pendants or a center light in a kitchen? I want to see in my cabinets, my counter tops, my sinks, see where I'm walking, see my entire kitchen. Without the recessed lights, I'd have a dark kitchen....See MoreUnder Cabinet Task Angled Powerstrip Visibility
Comments (10)I wanted to use under-cabinet plug mold but ultimately decided against it -- my electrical behind the walls was so jacked up from the previous owner DIY-ing things, and there were issues with the panel too, and since the plugs need to be on GFCI, it was a whole lotta $$$$ to get it wired properly, it wasn't simply a case of hide the connections up inside the cabinets and call it a day. Too bad, too -- I do think it gives a clean, streamlined look not to have to look at outlets. Just mentioning so you realize there are issues to consider above and beyond aesthetics. LeGrand makes 3/4" flat plug-mold -- you won't see it as long as your cabinet lip is at least that deep. I would take a look at that rather than the angled one....See MoreKathy
