A reclining sofa that doesn't look like a reclining sofa??
Comments (20)We looked at the Lazy Boy recliners - the looks of some would work for us, but they weren't very comfortable for us. We got Ekornes Stressless sofas. They recline and are very comfortable. They don't have an integrated foot rest, there are separate ottomans to use with them. We got the theater seating grouping because we like having at least one arm rest per seat, but you can get them in a normal couch configuration. Ours are large (wider seat) but they also have a medium size if you need more compact. In depth (front to back) they are pretty compact because they use a metal frame which allows for a thin back. There is a high back if you prefer that. We got the low back because it makes the room feel molre open and it's high enough for us and we got a couple of their recliners for when we want a higher back. They are pretty expensive but I expect them to be a very long term purchase....See MoreSame sofa in two different rooms
Comments (10)Ellendi - we are the same way, which is one more reason we are looking at the slipcovered - it is more cheaper than the normal sofa, and we are counting every single dollar and penny at this point since there are a few things we have to fix in the house as well. And yes - comfort is very important,so we'll have to figure this out. We like both sofas, but the non-slipcovered is definitely nicer and more comfortable. But we also don't want our son to pour juice on it or something. Plus, the savings would be nice if we were to get the slipcovered. Anyway, thank you all! Comments (19)Love the color and style of your new WE sofa. We have a mix of styles in our LR, and have used accessories, etc. to bridge certain gaps that have presented themselves. However, I would not use that height chair combo with your sofa. Also, painting and/or shortening the legs of the chairs, don't really seem to be great options either. My leather sofa in the LR has sort squared legs, but it came that way. I don't think I would alter a brand new sofa in order to make it work with CL chairs. You've just purchased an awesome sofa, would it be possible to wait until you come across chairs that would complement your sofa as opposed to trying to make do with the wrong height chairs? Not sure if you've already purchased these, but in the event you have, could they be purposed in a reading nook in the master BR, or somewhere else in your house? I know how it feels when you really want to make something work, but I think these chairs miss the mark with your new sofa. Scale is definitely an important factor when planning/decorating a room. IMHO, unfortunately, these chairs don't work from either a style or scale standpoint....See MoreBeadboard wainscot height & layout for two same size sofas in FR
Comments (10)The layout I believe would work best would NOT be an L formation as earlier mentioned. I do think it’s perfectly okay to place a couch back along the stair wall, and would do that, with another couch of the same dimensions facing it, placed along the sliding glass door of the living area. You have three sliding glass doors in that room, and will never use or need all three. It doesn’t make sense to do so. I would leave the center SGD available for easy flow, and arrange your furniture the way it works best in front of the other two SGD. If you do an L formation in the living room, it drastically limits the flow in that area. I would recommend instead to use two couches facing each other, one backed up to the SGD and the other to the stair wall. Then you could even float another short couch or two arm chairs in the center, directly facing the FP, if you wanted. Also love your color choices and the use of headboard or board and batten, as well as the painted kitchen cabinets. I am in the process right now of replacing all my kitchen cabinet doors with newly sprayed white shaker door fronts after already painting all the boxes, and it has completely transformed my space. This is the second home that I’ve done this in and the results are well worth the effort/and/or expense! It will be a lovely room when you’re finished....See Moremercymygft
