This last iteration is very William Haines, c. 1950s, or Edward Wormley. On the one hand there is something very functionalist and good about it, but on the other it may be a kind of planned obsolescence, just like some of their super functional bedroom pieces. Their pieces became outmoded because people no longer had large telephones next to their beds, TV sizes changed, and large consoles weren't needed to control TV, Stereo, lighting, drapes and intercom the way that they were a la Rock Hudson in Pillow Talk. So what happens if part of this construct stops working for you? Then the whole connected piece might become outmoded. I think that it might be best to keep the pieces separate rather than having one specialized piece. If you think you need the vanity space as an actual make up vanity, I would probably include a sink but I would do something tiny like the Barbara Barry Sink for Her (and $$$700), just good enough for dampening makeup sponges,etc. and a bit of rinsing and hand washing. As far as seating, you need enough room to sit comfortably for a short period of time maybe even a bit off kilter, but not enough to lounge, so you may be able to skimp a little. I would do Low table height though, of 28-30 inches.

wow, you have been busy. its looking great and 100% agree that the new nightstand and moving the tall dresser away from the sleeping area made such a big difference. the art above the bed is great too. the bench below the window in the office area also made a huge difference. as for the color change for the dressers, I wonder if white will wash out the room a bit as you have a lot of light colors like the wall color and carpet. i still like the idea of using the color of the blue console in the office on other pieces. a darker or brighter color will pop a bit more against the wall color... another idea to bring some more pattern or texture in the room is to use wallpaper on the drawer fronts and paint the rest of the piece, maybe in this case you could paint the piece white.

Modern Farmhouse is a broad description and it may mean different things to different people. I would look at modern farmhouse as a mixture of the clean lines and crisp geometries of contemporary architecture and a traditional farmhouse... The irregular pentagon is the shape that I most associate with the style. So when I think of interior ceiling features I lean towards features that carry the irregular pentagon inside. Such as this... In my opinion as you add beams to the ceiling you are removing the clean lines and crisp geometries that make it a "modern" farmhouse and moving it to a newly built farmhouse style. Both are quite common but if I wanted a mix of contemporary and farmhouse then I would opt out of muddying the visuals with beams. Having said that, beams can be a great looking feature and I especially like exposed horizontal beams, but again, that doesn't scream modern farmhouse to me personally. I hope this helps you understand what I was talking about, but it is your house so do what you love.

I think you chose the best layout by picking the one Karen drew. Are you considering two pocket doors? If you have two 2'6" you will have interference between the two if the main door is 2'6" too. I recommend that you avoid that interference, I find it just too annoying to have that little part of the main door that is in the way when you enter and exit the closet. You have to walk around that part of the door which means you might as well have a 2'2" door ... that would be the space you have left to walk between the frame of the door. See below. If you really want two 2'6" doors then I recommend two pocket doors or the closet door being 2'2". I am guessing the placement of the toilet in the layout below and I am not sure you are going with a free stand tub or not.
