Exterior paint color assistance
Comments (20)So glad I saw this discussion, and Randita's suggestions. I tried Sherwin Williams Banana Cream SW 6673 on my boring flesh-tone house and it looks florescent in the light. Then I tried Jersey Cream SW 6379 by the left window and it looks toned down and I like it. Our goal is to have the least possible heat gain here in central Florida. So we have a new White roof, which looks light grey to me. Once the house is all yellow I need a door color and wanted to avoid red. I started looking at blues when I thought my recycling bin looked nice against the yellow. I love the blue door suggestion at the link I attached. But I noticed she does not always answer in a timely manner. I am trying to accomplish a Cayman Island / Beach type of color theme. Everyone on my street is either grey or beige. I want to stand out and brighten things up, but not scream offensive color to anyone. Can anyone recommend a way to match a white trim and blue door other than just eyeballing it? I want it too look really well coordinated. The Blues I am considering for the door are SW6803, SW6802 ( is that too light?), SW6796, SW6790, SW6789. I can't wait to see Helene's finished pictures. Comments (72)The hardest thing about making this sort of a change is actually taking the plunge - my suggestion is if you are not thrilled go ahead and take a chance. I appreciate everyone's comments. I am suprised with such positive remarks considering the pics are really not good examples - it really looks great in person though. Thanks again for everyone's suggestions and comments. Hopefully this post will be helpful to someone else considering making a big change. With that said - I'd like to suggest for the forum that people ALWAYS post their actual colors when they post a picture. I know the lighting, computer screen, etc can make things look different but it is very helpful to see something in action as opposed to on a paint swatch. I would have found it invaluable....See MoreRequesting your assistance for Greige warm paint color w/o green/blue
Comments (13)Sometimes decorating around what is often a "design mistake" is a 2nd mistake. If one does not like the first mistake, the 2nd won't somehow neutralize it. I once had a client who carpeted the entire, LARGE first floor of her house with rust, somewhat "shady" wool carpet. A VERY expensive mistake and one she should not have tried to decorate around. She finally gave in and had it taken up, to her husband's great chagrin. A mistake is a mistake. I'd save my money and replace those floors before doing anything else....See Morecolor assistance help, please!
Comments (4)it's a cute house, but it needs some jazz. painting alone won't do that. Landscaping will. look at these before and afters and see the diff, along w/painting I like a dark gray/charcoal w/blacks and whites. Instead of shutters (which should never be on that bay window you have) try painting them black w/white trim. (or vice versa) I like this blue gray color too. but notice how the amped up trim work looks so much better than blah shutters. dark charcoal and slat wood accents. color palette. look at this split level. similar siding. dark charcoal, white trim, bright door. the landscaping is still blah, but the darker house color beats the old one. can you do anything w/the landscaping? even this is cute. you could do your own shutters and window box like these. extend your flower beds....See MoreNancy H
