I would love to see a richer green on the walls, something more the depth of the trim on the comforter. After you paint, the next thing I would do is change the window treatments. I would like to see heavier panels (to balance the weight of the heavy furniture) that are wider, so that the inside of each panel sits on the outer edges of the windows when the panels are opened. This would then allow the one behind the bed (and the other should match) to be as wide as the bed is. It will make the bed feel like it fits in front of the window, rather than making the window feel awkward. I would also hang them halfway between the trim and the ceiling, to bring some interest up in the space to balance the height of the armoire. I would not change the headboard to iron. Once you get the curtains wide enough behind it, it will be perfect. Is there any way you could move the tv to the wall where the round iron piece is hanging? I see the cable connection is currently below the tv, but they are usually very inexpensive to move. We did it here in two rooms, and it was a very small charge. Then you could set that cute table on that wall, which would put the focus up higher and not on the heat duct at the floor. If it is not possible to move the tv hookup, instead of spending money on a cabinet to hide the tv, think about perhaps looking at an inexpensive flat panel tv down the road and mount that on the wall. No cabinet or table needed then. You can then put the taller of the two floral arrangements in front of the plugs and cable hookup, and contain the cords in a cord cover painted the color of the wall. For now, I would put the shorter of the two arrangements under the table, put the taller one in the corner by the closet where the chair is, and move the chair to where the two floral pieces are. I would get a more substantial bedskirt - the one you have is too lightweight imo for the bedding and the furniture. I would also love to see a decorative pillow to break up the pattern of the comforter and shams a bit - perhaps a creamy background with some type of pattern that pulls the colors in. Does the cedar chest have to stay? I think it is charming, but I would love a clear view of the bed and bedding without the wood in front of it. If you need to keep it there, down the road look for a larger rug that can sit a bit under the end of the bed and is at least as wide as the bed. The little green one looks, well, little. :-) Love the painted dresser in the bathroom. I would paint the little towel bar/cabinet over the toilet in black to match the dresser. A couple of pretty botanical/rose framed prints would be nice on the wall to the right of the vanity. As for the mirrors over the dresser, I would take them down but save them - you never know what you might want to do down the road. I could see one painted black and hung elsewhere as a mirror over a smaller table, for example, in an entry way. I would get a mirror to hang in the center of the dresser wall area, then wall sconces on either side to fill the space a bit. This mirror might be great - the colors are pretty, and the shape echoes the center panel of the dresser door: casbah mirror

Believe it or not, decent looking ceiling fans exist. On every design show I've ever seen they're the first things to be thrown out, but I have them in every bedroom. Mmm slight draft at night without the sound of floor fan... I pspent no fewer than 18 weeks looking (off and on) for a "pretty" one to go in my master. I have lived with a 4 poster bed. My experience - unless you have really high ceilings, and I'm talking like 10 ft, and a sizeable room, it will turn your space into... tiny. Once upon a time in a previous life I thought I had a big bedroom until I put a poster bed in there. I like your computer nook. I always wanted a space like that, which I could separate from the rest of the room with some romantic drapery tied back. I might force that idea on my formal dining room. :) beds/headboards coverin ga window do bother me. I don't like anything to cover a window (couch, table, or otherwise) -- but that's just me. And if it came down to a queen bed, or covering that window, sure - the window would get covered! We have single panels on our two bedroom windows, mostly because they're skinny and it looked silly to me to have two panels. If you need to cover the window, something that seems to help (at least when I've seen it done) is to pull the bed away from the wall a foot or so. Then you can go with two panels, and it looks kind of intentional instead of "didn't have space." Something else to keep in mind with blocking windows -- does the sun come directly in such that it would fade your bedding over time?

whenicit, Thanks, but I need LOTS of help! The other advantage to the 2nd layout in BR1 is that the headboard is rather high and if I put it along the wall, it won't block the windows which would probably be better. I'll see about adding seating when I get the beds assembled. We may have room and it would give me a project to scour antique shops. That is what I'm planning on doing for a nightstand in the second bedroom. A little shabby/chic, beachy. I was going to look through some "Real Simple" magazines for inspiration. I'm not sure exactly what I want yet, but I though a "weathered" table, perhaps in a fun color, would go nicely with the iron bed. ajsmama, Thank you for the suggestion on BR1. I agree that swaping the nightstand is much better. On BR2, I think I could move the dresser closer to the door. The only think I actually don't like about the dresser in that position in general is that I'm not fond of the look of it from the side, but no mater how far forward or backward it is, I'm going to have that problem... mammapinky Yes, they are. I did that on purpose. I wanted a different illusion than just the mirrors hanging, if that makes sense. I want the mirrors and curtains anchoring the bed, like a headboard. Thank you! To everyone mentioning the mirror height, don't tell my husband! (lol) He absolutely hates hanging curtains, shelves, mirrors and paintings. haha I'll have to wait to the weekend or a day we both have the time and we shall raise them. I'll have to ease him into it. ;) Should they go the same height as the curtains?
