i recently ended up in the ER with a raging case of colitis. not sure if i picked up a bug on my quick trip out of state or if i got some bad take-out food but whatever it was, it had me down for 2 weeks so i feel your pain.

Im in Maryland. I have one daughter in Virginia (she homeschools her 5 kids and works part time), one in Pa with a 2 year old and a full time job. My closest daughter is about 25 minutes away but doesn't do sick people very well. I am sure I will be fine Im just frustrated. I am only 1/4 mile from Walmart so I can do grocery pick up.

Oh wow, you are really going through it. i know there are lots of things worse than colds, coughs coughs, earaches and so on but when its happening to you, it feels like the worst. i know that feelignof being sick of myself. i hope the meds help you.

I'm sorry you've been sick for so long. My daughter's boyfriend has had a respiratory illness for months. Then she got it. I think they're finally doing somewhat better. It can really wear your body and mind down. I hope you start to feel better soon.

Oh I'm so sorry. My neighbor was sick for 2 weeks with a bad cough/cold and lost her voice. She sounded and felt terrible, but not covid. She finally got over it and now her DH has it. It's just miserable. I hope you feel better really soon!

Hope you get over it soon. Maybe order some hot soup from Panera bread, and if you can drink orange or grapefruit juice, order them fresh squeezed then you can add some honey. It’ll do your body and spirit good.

Yes Especially not with 5 kids.

Although it is not something I could do she and her husband have bright wonderful kids. They do co op twice a week (my daughter teaches one of the classes) and the kids are on grade or above. As I said I couldn't do it but I will say with all the violence in schools today Im coming around to understanding it. To each their own.

Satine so sorry you are sick. I hope you feel better quickly. It seems like so many people are miserable for a long time until they are not. I third or fourth or whatever it is soup as much as you can have soup. It's easy to eat and for me at least comforting.

I hope you start to feel better soon. My husband had what it sounds like you have and is still hacking after two weeks but not covid. In fact, we got the booster shots today.

Two weeks, eh? Well, that's about average before the turn-around kicks in. I'm hoping that will be the case here. Yes to the soup and juices and even just some mildly flavored water. I drink ginger ale with lots of ice to thin it. What do you have to take your mind off your troubles? Novels? Movies? TV series? Music?

Sorry there's no ready supply of MOTHERS/WIVES standing by to step in and help.

Thanks to all of you for letting me vent and for being empathetic. I was able to get two doses of the antibiotic in yesterday and will start the steroids today. Im hoping they will relieve some of the head and face pressure. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

I am also sick with a cold/bronchitis with a fever and other accompanying misery. I’ve tested negative for Covid three times, so it doesn’t seem to be that. But I do believe

it to be the worst cold I have ever had. There must be some nasty viruses circulating out there. I’d advise you on some good OTC meds to take, but nothing is helping my congestion and cough….hope your prescription meds work for you!

Something to talk to your doctor about but at one time I had multiple colds every year. They would almost always start in my sinus cavities then progress to my chest. In talking to me about what things that could be causing the problem he wondered if it was more a problem with allergies and my body fighting the initial infection allowed an overgrowth of bacteria. This was when antihistamines had to be prescribed. Since at that point I was ready to try anything I decided I would try it. The antihistamine shortened the "cold" and infection. He non-medical explanation was my body was fighting itself creating histamines.

I'm right there with you. DH and I both got our COVID booster and flu shots 3 weeks ago. Within 24 hours, I was sick with aches, chills, a horrible cough and vomiting. I have tested negative for COVID, flu, RSV and pneumonia but still have a horrible cough. I am exhausted from being sick and the accompanying lack of sleep. My ribs hurt, I pulled muscles from coughing so violently and my head hurts from coughing. To top it off, in the past few days I have also developed cold sores.

Every year I get sick in early October and it usually last's for 6-8 weeks then the cycle repeats again in early March. My lungs take the brunt of it as my parents were both 2+ pack a day smokers so I grew up in a blue haze.

Being sick sucks. Venting just seems to help sometimes. Speaking of steroids, I used to laugh at my dad (then in his early 70's) - he said every time his dr. gave him steroids he had so much energy for the first few hours he could clean the entire house.

Also - have you changed out your toothbrush in between instances of getting sick? I never think about it, but that's the first thing my son reminds me to do.

Sounds like Im not alone in my misery lol. Sorry to those of you who are under the weather and hope you are feeling better soon. The antibiotics and prednisone seem to be helping a bit and I am looking forward to feeling a little better each day. Thanks again for all the good wishes and thoughts.

Have you considered flushing your sinuses with saline? My ENT preformed this on me in his office and when I asked if there was a way that I could do this at home he said "Yes." It involved getting a water pic and then an attachment to use with it for sinus irrigation. It worked so well I rarely have to go to the dr. any more for sinus issues.

If you do the saline flush always use distilled and not tap water. Tap water can harbor all kinds of things that can irritate or infect your sinus.

Also, be sure not to us iodized salt.
