Update on my Pity Party. . .

Several of you mentioned that there was something out there that would be perfect for me to wear to the wedding.

You were right!

On Monday the 27th. I went out to get a card, wrapping paper, etc. and went back to Peebles to look again, because that is the closest store to me. Nothing there.

Was going back to Ross, but first went again to Goodwill. As I walked into the store, I turned to go toward the left side, and THERE IT WAS! One dress, hanging on a rack, not even near the dresses. It might as well have had a sign on it that said "Hold for Sue."

I tried it on and yes, that was it! It looks like a two piece outfit, but it isn't. It is one piece with a type of over blouse look. The top is in muted shades of pink, that if you look close has a design of a flower and leaves here and there, and has a small knotted tie on the right hip. Covers all my hippy indiscretions perfectly. The skirt is solid pink and is mid calf length. The label says Greg Michael, but I googled and didn't find a site like that. It looked like it had never been worn.

So I went to the wedding "pretty in pink." That's what the bride said when she saw me. She knew about the search I had been on.

The 6 p.m. wedding was just beautiful, in that romantic setting, lit only by oil wall lamps. There was music by two young men playing euphoniums, which I had never seen or heard before. The ceremony was very traditional, with a beautiful acapella solo by a friend of the bride. She sang The Lord's Prayer that was breathtaking.

The reception was the most FUN reception I've ever been to. The bride and groom each have so many friends, and they all seemed to know this was a perfect marriage. There was so much mingling, joking and laughter. It was such a happy event.

My DGD, my DS's DD, catered the reception and the food was not only delectable to look at but by all the comments, even more delectable to eat.

The weatherman had predicted showers and possible Thunderstorms, but there was neither; even had sunshine part of the time.

The Bride & Groom are on their honeymoon now. I will be seeing pictures when they get back.

Thanks for taking this trip with me. It wore me out, but the happiness I saw made it all worthwhile.

I was just thinking of you yesterday and wondered how it all turned out!
I'm happy it was all great! Sounds like the wedding was fantastic! Love and happiness is what its all about!

You guys are super! David, you are too kind! I promise I will let you know if I need some help, but I am hoping that with the new techniques available, I won't be TOO restricted in what I can do. Barb, I'm seeing the doctor again on the 16th to see how my nerve damage is responding to the cortisone treatments, and I will get all the info at that time on what the other surgery will entail. We didn't go into it on my last visit, as the priority at that time was getting some immediate relief from the extreme pain in the top of my right foot. But never fear. I will have all the particulars down pat before I consent to the procedures. The only thing I know she mentioned was a "3-month recovery time" for each foot. But that could be anything from a full cast to a walking cast to just restricted use after the first week or something like that. It might not be anywhere near as bad as last time (I hope, I hope). But you guys are so nice to offer to come help me out! I can't believe it! And now that Kate and David have made it sound like so much fun...well. I may have to have you all come over, even if I'm in no need whatsoever! Who could resist? The company would be superb! In the meantime, I've noticed that my nerve pain (as opposed to the arthritis) is not bothering me nearly as often, though I still can't put a shoe on that even touches the top of my foot. I CAN walk better than before the shot, but when it does hurt, it hurts MORE. Don't know what any of that means. Maybe another shot or two would make it go away. Will let y'all know after the 16th. You gys are the best....I do feel a little better today. I am allowed to bear weight with the crutches and thats been ok but if I do it too much then the pain starts in. Frankie took me to AC yesterday...yes it was the AC food and wine shindig but we did not have tix for any of the events....BUMMER!!! I could not walk all that well on the crutches so I basically sat and "people watched". I saw a lot of camera folks taking video....prob from the food network getting exteriors shots however I saw no food celebs. A little birdie told me that Guy Fieri and his whole family were staying and "taping" DDD at Cape May...I hope he was Taping and Jackson Mountain Cafe but my bet would be he would go for "the Ugly Mug" instead. There are a lot of good places to eat in Cape May but none that I would consider a "dive" LOL!! Today Drew comes home!! WOOT WOOT!!! His last text said they were in Fredricksburg Va having lunch so he's not all that far!! I expect him by suppertime!! I missed him so much!! He has NO IDEA I was injured-didn't want my news to spoil his trip. So I've been on line looking at dogs...actually puppies. I have always loved the look and personality of sheppards. Specifically the Aussie...more spacific the toy or mini Aussie. And there is a small litter at a breeder in my county....but they do not have the blue eyes. Not all Aussies have blue eyes but thats a look both Frank and I would want. Believe me I am in no rush at all...I know there is a dog or 2 out there for us and we can wait for the right situation. I have PT tomorrow so perhaps we will stop by to see these babies....who know maybe there will be a connection. Cheers! Susie

Four years ago we went to get a female Mini-labradoodle. She was the runt of the litter, apricot in color. She was shy but very smart. My hubby went in the pen and squatted down - over comes one of the siblings - a black male. He "lays" himself over my DH who looks up at me and says, you should always take the one that picks you. Three hours and many dollars later, we signed contracts for both. It was our wedding anniversary so we gave each other a puppy. They are both here by me now. Andi, the female is still smarter (she's on the soft bed). Amos, her bro, is on the floor. They are the best natured dogs - always wanting to please and so loving. They are totally different in some ways - Andi will pull and tug on a toy. Amos has the soft mouth of a lab and will not tug but will retrieve a ball 1000 times a day if you throw it for him. Training two at once was interesting - to say the least but I wouldn't trade them for the world. Good luck with yours. Would love to see pics.

JNM, sorry to hear she's BAAAACK!!!! I know your sadness, it's heartbreaking. I'm learning to not have ANY expectations for BM. No disappointment. Well, not for me anyways. My husband called to say goodnight to SD tonight. He had to leave a message. SD called his cell phone while he was in the shower and I answered. We've been having a difficult summer, with her ignoring me most of the time. Well, I told her dad's in the shower but she can call back in ten minutes. She says okay, thanks. I tell her "I love you" and she happily replies "I love you too". So, I go to the shower and tell hubby she's gonna call back in a few minutes. She never called back and as I told DH about her call, it crosses my mind, what if her mom heard her say she loves me? Did she catch heat for that or maybe let her mom think she was talking to her dad so she couldn't call back because she'd have to tell her mom it was me. I could use some of that wine too.... Some people will never 'get it'!!! ((hugs)) Stay strong!!!

You know...the most important thing is that you feel good.

Who cares where it came from...

Glad you had a good time..Hope this young couple make it work....

This month will be 43 years for us. And even though neither of us are perfect....we both still "like" each other. (and of course love is in there too...it's easy to love , a little harder to like...LOL)

Oh Sue, I am so happy to hear it all turned out so well for you finding the perfect dress as well as the wedding and reception being so perfect.

I was the one who had suggested Goodwill or a thrift store. Had you checked them or thought of checking them before I suggested it?...just curious

Amazing that you found the perfect dress for just $4!

Wow, what a shopping coup, Sue! I'm so happy that you found something you liked and you'll never forget how PLEASED you were when you got your hands on it. I'm so glad you had a wonderful time and looked and felt so nice and that the bride and groom are meant for each other, that adds a lot to a wedding! lol You know what I mean.

I am so glad you found the perfect outfit for the wedding. It doesn't matter how much an outfit costs or where it comes from as long as it what you want. It sounds really pretty. It does sound like it was a very nice wedding.

Thrilled that you found exactly what you were looking for. And also that you found it in a store that many of us are very familiar with....good old "GW".

Just wondering.....were you happy with how your hair turned out? (although I already know that it was great).

Please post a couple of pics of yourself. We'd love to see the whole package....lol.

That's the best news I've heard all day....So happy you found your "pretty in pink dress"...And we do want to see those pictures...As I said before, I've gotten a lot of my clothes at the Goodwill shop and have always been satisfied....It's the clothes, not the price or where you get it.....

JustLinda, yes my hair turned out fine, and the girl fluffed it up so all the white showed, and I like it that way. Of course after sleeping on it, being out in the wind, and being hugged a lot at the wedding, I don't know what it might look like in the pictures.

Sue, your mention of the GW did remind me that I had gone there back in February I think, and I had forgotten about that. But I did go to the GW again, maybe on the day I went to the SA, and that is when I found the red dress I liked, but it was too small.

Then that final trip to the GW on the 27th was when I found the pink one.

I think this will be the last wedding in my family; at least I hope so!

Sue, Guess where DH and I shopped today???? He said he needed long sleeved shirts to wear when he works in the yard...He has skin cancer and really has to protect his arms...So we went to our Salvation Army store and he ended up with 8 very nice shirts and I got 3 sweaters (which I didn't need) and it was all under $15.00......
