Exterior help for stucco/stone update!

I am building a detached garage on the far back of my property and it will be seen from the road. It’s made me rethink my entire exterior color scheme.
I’d like to go lighter on the stucco, while toning down any yellow on my stone…

Here is a close up of the stone. I’m wanting to go to a white/off white/cream, and use the same for the detached garage. Just want to choose one that not bring out too much yellow.

My house is west facing, although its on a corner and all sides except north cna be seen

I agree with your choice of cream for the stucco. (The existing color was a poor choice.) Just don’t go too light with the cream, maybe not an exact match with your lightest stone color but instead just a smidge darker.

We tried power washing with little improvement. There was water, which led to mildew and moss, which is gone now. What’s left are stains from that (I called them water stains for simplicity’s sake). Not sure if we’ll be able to get them off or not.

I agree it looks better and a touch of shrubbery from the nursery would be great, and pay for full attractive plants. Don’t skimp. Personally I would remove the shutters, but ask your realtor. I’d also paint the front door, I think and get a lovely porch light— but none of it matters ss much as everything being spotlessly clean and minor repairs taken care of. It is an unusual house so your likely buyer will be more concerned about other things than cosmetics

Here's a house similar in style to yours... The colour of the stucco in much lighter than yours although not white. I think you need a bit of contrast with your white windows, this is a nice example.

I like the siding. Its different. It is something that will need to be power washed every year or two, but, thats easy maintenance. You would have same thing, if you painted it, and then, there would be paint touch ups. Leave it the way it is, and paint your trim, and your garage doors, and put your money into landscaping.

I like your trim. Exterior whites and off-whites are discussed here often, hopefully our color experts see this. I don’t think it’ll be challenging finding one that would look great. :)

The garage doors and front door don’t need to match. Actually, it’s better if they don’t. The garage doors should be the same as the siding/stucco. The front door can be any color so it can stand out. A bright color? Black? Natural wood?

My front door and garage doors are on different side of the home but I think you are right about them not needing to be the same.
Also a side note: I think my windows have faded and gone more cream than almond on the front/west side…

Wow that’s so helpful! I’ve tried doing that with PShop but It wasn’t clean enough to really tell so I so appreciate you taking the time to do that! I’d love to play around with it more, but I don’t have your skills! (Ie. My trim is dark) but I LOVE a what a lighter color does!

I had also done it with a dark trim but it sounded like you wanted a lighter trim.

Thank you! I’m thinking alabaster stucco is too light and doesn’t tie in as well with the dark trim/rock. I think I’ll have to explore what littlebug zone 5 Missouri said about not going too light…
