Stone veneer crumbling along bottom of exterior wall
Comments (4)Wicking up water is correct. Don't laugh, but this week's This Old House Hour new episode had Roger digging up a Hydrangea plant/tree because he needed to change the grade to better slope away from the house. He showed PRECISELY your situation and attributed it to "Wicking." Listen to Roger say it is moisture wicking up - he inexplicably suggests it's the roots bring the water over - when he made the case that he needs to remove the plant in order to regrade. EDIT: Episode 3319 of TOH This post was edited by saltidawg on Sun, Mar 16, 14 at 20:16...See MoreExterior Stone Veneer examples~ HELP!
Comments (0)HI, we are building a house and the craftsman/modern house on the plans has Stone veneer, which I love, however I cant find the name of the stone, nor can I find stone I like that is similar, my problem is that what the stone sample looks like on line or in the box sample looks nothing like the real thing. SO what I an hoping...that you will post your picture of your stone and the name used! I kinda want something Bold too. PS. My garage door is Black, roof is charcoal and front doors are black too~ but honestly if i can just see THE REAL picture of the REAL stone, that would be very very Helpful~~ THANKS...See MoreCan you paint stone veneer to update the exterior of this 1970’s home?
Comments (7)Your stone is a beautiful color. I would not paint it. You should consider painting the rest of the house as well as the garage door. The posts on your porch need a bit of beefing up. Can you replace the posts with cedar or have them wrapped in wood? Find a color that you like in the stone face and paint the house that color. Then you have a starting point to look for an accent color to paint the trim and the shutters. Also, changing the light fixtures would give this house a needed update. Something with straighter lines would work better with your architecture....See MoreChoosing Exterior Stone Veneer
