Have you made anything like the KA "Handkerchief" rolls?

It was featured on the cover of the latest catalog, in a gorgeous Emile Henry covered baker, which I lust for, have no use for, no storage space for, and don't want to spend on. I'm guessing I have something that would work. :)

The recipe has one make triangles of butterflake dough, filling of butter and herbs, and longways points folded in sort of like a one sided wonton, then stacked beautifully in the long baker.

It looks really appealing, though I think I'd change the herbs to more Middle Eastern than Italian/pizza.

Have you made anything like it? Is it worth the bother? Any tips and tricks?

Interesting pictures! I haven’t made anything like that and I’m not likely to, but I sure would eat it if someone else made it. Guess I didn’t learn the lesson of The Little Red Hen. 😉

I'm working on veggies now, but I remembered I have a large clay loaf pan that's probably the right size. The recipe only uses the lid for rising (hello tea towel). I want to try it, though I know it won't be as pretty. I make good tasting baked good, but rarely pretty...

I had to look up little red hen. How a propos! I was thinking Henny Penny, but hopefully neither the dough nor the sky will fall. Then I thought Probable Possible, bur she's a black hen who's unable to postulate how. Good story! But what kind of friends are those who won't help? You'd be welcome to nosh even if you were just kibbitzing, That helos too. ;)

Soups, stews, pot roast, chili, pinto beans, greens, sweet potatoes. Not to say I wouldn't enjoy these in other seasons, but they just spell fall and winter to me.I have a recipe for Hungry Man's Stew that we have had for at least 20-25 years and we love it in cold weather! jude

We put foods that needs to stay cold in the fridge, and food that needs to stay warm/hot in the hot box at school. Often between first lunch and second lunch we find a dish in the fridge we forgot to put on the line. It happens, even at work. Thank goodness our manager knows we are human. :) Moni

When I was in college I won a makeover and a Butte Knit suit of my choosing from a dept. store. I had the makeover and haircut and got to keep my choice of make-up line. I chose Clinique and when I picked out the suit I just got the most expensive one they had; they were so matronly and I was 20. Just under 200$ for the suit and I returned it to the same store different town on my way back to school and kept the cash :) I bought a killer leather jacket wish I still had that...Of course the Butte Knits are kinda vintage now. In recent years I've won a microwave and a pair of really decent riding boots.

The English of Chaucer's day is called Middle English. It's not the same language as Modern English, it's similar but very different. You'd no sooner check the spelling of Middle English words in a modern English dictionary than would you check the spelling of French words. Thanks for pointing that out.
