Plank siding vs stucco dilemma

L S
last year

So during planning we told our contractor we would like the new addition to be similar to the existing portion of the house. Meaning there is partial plank siding (picture:right)and stucco on the front part (picture:aligned with windows)of the house. The back and both sides of the house have full stucco. Now during lathing the contractor told us we need to decide what we will do with the finish and we said again to mirror to the existing. Then after the scratch coating we confirmed again that the front should mirror the existing and he said the new addition (pic:left front of the house) will only have stucco. No siding! Is it too late to insist on adding the siding?? If we can't do it now, is it possible to have it added in the future??
