nothing wrong with mixing metals. a coastal option might be a natural fiber shade, like a woven seagrass to soften the look. personally not a fan of caged fixtures, I prefer not to look into a bare bulb, especially at night. A big piece of art on that blank wall? a color on the island base, table base and/or chairs in a very light agua, blue or green for your coastal idea?

We may paint the island a blue grey shade. House is a blank slate with lots of personalization needed. We need to add tile backsplash (sticking with white), crown on cabinets and possibly shiplap above the cabinets. That bare wall will probably have some sort of side table to store my China.

I don’t mind bare bulbs. I thought of seagrass shades but was thinking I might do seagrass in the seating whether it’s the counter stools or dining chairs. So many options. Might be easier to pay a designer but with the cost of the move I’m trying to do it on my own.

I like these pendants. It looks like they used a silver frosted fixture over the kitchen table which I think is interesting.
