Hood design dilemma - kitchen designers please help
Comments (13)Holly are you saying i have to replace all of the crown in the kitchen? I am not trying to save anything between the 2 windows where the range area is currently. I am ok with the expense and have already gotten the quotes from the cab company and for the modernaire hood insert. But for the cost I want to be sure want to be sure about not using the vv96 in that area and the staggered cabs. I know what I have is really nice, it is just not what I want....See MoreKITCHEN DESIGN DILEMMA NIGHTMARE ****** HELP NEEDED PLEASE*****
Comments (13)Good points, I understand where you are coming from re: sink -stove - pivot.. I'll have to take another look at that, it's just all the photo's I like of kitchens seem to have this symmetrical look... lavender_lass What is 'P' 'R' and 'MW' I'm guessing Microwave for the third??? RE: Is there a Dining Room elsewhere or is the "nook" space the only table space? (It looks like there is no other table space.) There is no other dining space, this will be a 'walk - out' basement suite.. So as good as it gets.. plenty of space really for 2 beds.. Hoping if we aren't living in it to get a professional couple who need a spare bedroom or a couple with 1 child.... Would you be willing to consider moving the table to the left and utilizing as much of the bay space as possible for the Kitchen? Would you consider replacing them with windows that are 36" off the finished floor Ans: No, it wouldn't be cost effective for us to do that, we are already moving walls and doors around... Would you consider a banquette? Ans: I'm not sure what you mean.. How many seats does the table have to accommodate? Ans: Probably 4 - 6 at a cosy stretch...See MoreKitchen dilemma!! Comments (7)I must be crazy because I like the combo and also see the cabinet color in the flooring, which looks like it combines cool and warm tones. Would a white-wash stain bring down the orange? Or would that make them look pink? Your backsplash & countertop are cool, cabs warm, flooring a combo. I would wait until you're ready to do your reno/refresh so that the other finishes will all be chosen with the floor in mind. Making choices independent of each other leads to the feeling that you're experiencing. I have similar flooring. SW Divine White looked great with it. It's creamy without being yellow. If you're keeping your white appliances, it might look dingy. In that case, you'll have to go with a bright white similar to the stove. That will have to carry through to your trim. It's a cascade of changes - lol!...See MoreKitchen Renovations Floor Dilemma: DESIGN ADVICE NEEDED! HELP!!
Comments (5)What a disappointment about the flooring. If it were me, if having the molding was the only thing keeping me from moving forward with cabinet install while things get sorted out, I wouldn't let that stop me. I would think there could be an acceptable trim that would solve that issue. You already have 2 kinds of flooring coming together, I would not add a third. If you pulled out the foyer tile and ran that into the kitchen, that could work, but not adding an additional, different tile to the mix. If you must add tile in place of the wood, I'd find one that works with your cabinets (maybe something close to the color of the wood floors, but not wood look tile). Or maybe slate? Run it into the entry. I agree about rethinking the waterfall counter. It really doesn't appear to be suited to your style home. But if you decide to move forward with it, could you live with a temporary counter on the island until the floors are sorted out, then have the island finished? Lots of people live with plywood counters for a while, for a variety of reasons....See Morelive_wire_oak
