Kindle Question
Comments (11)My mother has the Kindle and loves it. She likes it mostly because she finds amazon.com so easy to use. I bought a Barnes & Noble Nook. I liked it better because it allows me to download digital ebooks from my public library. The Kindle is proprietary and only allows you to download books via amazon.com. This was an issue for me because I read more casually and don't want to buy every book. I don't really care to keep the books so much after I've read them. For my Mom, this wasn't an issue because she loves to keep all her books, reads 5-8 of them at the same time, and didn't want to be restricted by the 14 day return policy of the public library. Plus, she likes to read more obscure titles and they're really cheap on Amazon. The other thing about the Kindle I liked that the Nook didn't do was the text to speech. You can plug in your headset and the Kindle will "read" you your book! I think that would be nice when you're riding in the car or other times when you just don't want to read. Get a good cover and light. www.medgestore.com has great covers and a nice reading light....See MoreKindle question
Comments (14)All great answers. We used to not be able to do collections on the kindle app but recently they added that option which is great so that way we can make folders for those that are finished reading or separate them into individual folders for the various persons reading from the same Amazon library. My husband has a folder with his name and his selection of books and I have mine. Some do over lap but the separation helps keep it more organized. I also never remove books from my Amazon library because should you want to loan that book to someone else with a kindle if you removed it well it's gone. You have unlimited space so why remove them? And if you just move the ones you are currently interested in onto the device it is much easier to keep track. And yes leave them at 100%! I wish there was some type of marker they had that would mark the cover as read. You can however add a notation to the book which once you open it and wonder if you have read this you can look at notations and if you added the note that you finished this book you would know. I taught my husband how to do that and put the date he finished it. He reads extremely fast and goes through books like crazy so he really was having a hard time remembering what he had read. I only keep about half a dozen or so books on my device at a time, the ones I want to read next, then I move them into my collections folder for done reading in my name. So I have a folder for Ravens books and one for Ravens finished books same for hubby. I love that they let me know I have already ordered the book because several times I am not sure. I doubt that it would give that warning if you no longer had that book in your library but I don't know for sure because I have never removed a book....See MoreKindle question
Comments (6)Right for the kindle Fire that is a tablet not just the plain ereader like the regular kindles so you would definitely need wireless to be able to connect to the internet and surf and do all the stuff you do on the computer. The way Amazon does the account is that say her father would open an amazon account he MUST provide a credit card so that any purchases will be going on that card. Now if he gives the kindle fire to her it is set up on his account that he established for it. If she goes to the amazon store and picks out something she wants to buy and has the log on info for the account on the kindle fire she will be able to buy anything on amazon basically. There have been many complaints of this happening when people have bought one as a gift and they came set up with the amazon account of the person that bought it! I don't know how exactly he would have to handle that situation with her but know that it can and has been a problem for many there are pages of complaints dealing with it. Do the GS that she has seen with their kindle fire live with her? if so and they are using theirs then she should be able to also. The Dad should question someone about the wireless network in the house surely there is an adult that could say if it would be able to work. You can also contact Amazon support and actually speak to someone about setting up the account and how it can be handled in a situation like this. An example my brother in law bought his kindle and set up his account with amazon on his credit card. He bought my sister one and it is also set up on his account so anything she buys goes on his credit card but she can also share any of the books he has purchased that are in his amazon library at amazon. They gave their adult son a kindle also on the same account anything he buys goes on his Dad's credit card but he too can share all the books in their amazon library. So there are good things and bad things here. They can all share the books they buy in the one amazon library but any thing anyone purchases using that account gets charged to my brother in laws credit card that is on file for that account. I think amazon will now limit you to how many can be registered under one account....See MoreKindle Question
Comments (6)you do know that any books etc she had that were under his account will no longer be available to her any longer once she is off his account. I would at least download them to the kindle it self because the archives are on amazon servers possibly the ones saved to the device might stay. You might want to contact amazon and explain the situation they might be able to save her books to the new account, doubtful but worth a try....See Morekathyg_in_mi
