Hey Houstonmom- A couple of thoughts...might your kindle users' guide been archived? To find spot that you stopped reading try going to menu and "sync to furthest page read." If that doesn't work I'll use the "go to" and make a guess on the location number and I look at the page to see if I need to adjust number forward or back. It's still better than forwarding page by page. Do you know you can archive the books you have read? They are still yours and you can call them back, but then your home pages won't be so many. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I looked in my archived items for the user guide...perhaps I looked to quickly. But, in the meantime, I think I finally located the user guide on Amazon.com.

My books always open up to the last page read automatically. You could 'fast forward' by going to "go to" then find a location and wing it. Also, before you close your Kindle, you can sync it or you can bookmark your page. When you hit the 'go to' you can go to the bookmark.

on all of my readers it does bookmark them automatically when you close out the book but just in case I always do a bookmark on the page too, that way should it not do the auto one I can hit the go to option and select bookmarks and go to the last one. Most also have the option of go to and the various chapters and book pages.

If you tell what Kindle you have I will try to find that guide for you.

If you haven't already, you might want to create "collections" on your Kindle. They're like folders into which you organize your books. You can name the collections anything you want, for example you might have one named "Novels," and one named "Biographies," and one named "Information and Instructions." You can easily move books from one collection to another, and you can even have one book shown in more than one collection. I do have a collection named "Information" and my Kindle user guide is in there.

Also meant to say this about forwarding to a later chapter within a book on your Kindle. Most (though not all) books have a table of contents. Some are pretty robust - give you the Chapter Number and a Chapter Title. Others just say "Chapter 1, Chapter 2," etc. Nonetheless, from within a book, you can use the "go to" feature and choose the table of contents and just choose a chapter number that's later in the book.
