If the porch post/rails are white, they will become the focal point of the home, as white is a bright color and will stand out dramatically from the rest of the house. It will accentuate the Victorian/Farmhouse feeling of the architecture. Gray, as they are now, keeps them a more subtle addition to the facade. I would keep them gray, personally.

Same goes for the garage, do you want it to stand out more?

I like the idea of keeping it all as is, and just changing the door and shutters to black, too.

It just depends on the look you like — classic traditional or tone on tone. Either could work.

Maybe just do the doors and shutters first, live with it a bit, and see if you want to proceed further.

I would not trim the garage in white, no matter what you decide.

Thank you for the reply. One of my main concerns is shown in your uploaded photos, these homes all have white trim on the house where mine does not. All the other trim is the same color as the siding.

Yes, I think I’d stick with what you have and just add black shutters and door. You can always change things later, if you want.

I like the tone on tone look on your house, and that color with black. It’s all very calm and cohesive, and the black will accent it nicely, as in my last photo.

And just for an FYI because I didn't mention it, the house is a wicker type color and the porch is matching. We are trying to bring the house style up from the '90s. The porch needs to be painted no matter what and now is our time to change the color to update the look of the house. The windows all have the white vinyl wrapping, hence the thought of changing the porch.

I'd do something other than black for the front door. It might be just due to the photo, but it feels like a black door might just disappear into darkness.

Wish I could do photoshop. I’d like to try white, black, or off-white on the porch alone.

It's actually a Profusion Crabapple tree. Just got to get that top trimmed a bit more.
