I assume the white vinyl window is staying, so to me that dictates the trim color. Thus I would use a very light cream/ buff for all the wood trim, then you can use a fun color for the front door and shutters. I particularly like purple with that color brick...

I might try a taupe paint on everything that is rust coloured and a light green on the door as it recedes a bit in the darker porch.

If you don't do the very light color tones, as Hallett and barebay describe, you will be disappointed with the effect. And as barebay suggested, you might be brave and try a very light green on the door and shutters(not Lime)you certainly could try purple....but probably not the jewel tone, more of a soft ? lavender. Just depends on your eye/style/personality. The house does need some lighter colors to make it enchanting, not soooo serious? I guess is the word. It will look so nice when done!! I recommend: Valspar/Caribbean Walk for the Wood Trim and Keystone, Valspar: Quiet Mint if you like pale green on the Shutters and Front door..........or Benjamin Moore: Nosegay(a pale purple)tone. Any of these colors will look great when you replace your shingles to a light gray/silvery/or other gray tone too! IF that is a sunscreen on your large window, you might try to find the white tone that matches the small window, and paint that screen divided light in White, also, so blend with your small window?--just a thought. Also, in a photo it's exact science is different online and if you get a lot of sunlight, you might want to go a shade richer in hue, because outdoors can wash out paint colors. But you certainly don't want a hue that is a defined as your brick tones are, likely. Your paint store may recommend that you want to use something like oil based KILZ on all your existing surfaces as a primer so you get the color from the top coat as accurate as possible. You can go over that with your water based top color coats. I hope you can post results..

Ami, the house is very cute! I'm a little stumped with color suggestions for the door and shutters. However, I would definitely stay away from cool-toned colors with your brick and roof.

The keystone in the arch was not meant to be painted, they are normally natural stone. I would match the white of your vinyl window for the sun porch screen/window. I know there is specific paint for vinyl but that’s tricky. You could look to your mortar colour for a warm grey trim for the peaks, shutters and door trim. Leave your door for last, but I agree it needs to be light. Sweet house!

I like the existing trim color. Replace the white trimmed window with a paintable one and then match your existing trim. Paint the door a color you love. Sage green looks nice with brick if you like green. Very nice home.

Yes Bette! I can't even tell you how many times I've looked at Romabio bc of the one step application and time after to be able to washoff/modify. I believe right now my plan is to lime wash the brick soon which is something I've been looking at doing since I bought the house. I've researched mortar smears, painting, whitewashing, and lime wash enough to drive someone crazy. I just can't seem to come to a decision on colors for this difficult brick. I have also decided to go with a metal roof later possibly instead of shingles. I grew up in the south and love them during those southern storms and it's not too much more than shingles. I'm rebuilding my shutters today and I have no idea what color to paint them, I suppose I'll leave them off the house for now. Thanks for all the feedback, I appreciate it and I'll try to update with progress photos. I'm also power washing the brick this weekend to see if that makes it any "brighter".

House so requires a pressure wash for roof and brick so you can actually see the color of the brick.

Pressure washed the whole house twice... not much of a difference other than the green off the brick at the bottom of the house and especially on the side that doesn't get sun. This brick is pretty true to what you see in the photo. I've decided to use ROMABIO, just trying to decide between their Riposo or Tropea Beige colors. i have a plan and will update accordingly!

Personally, I'm leaning more towards the wood door. I just rebuilt my shutters and will be priming them to get ready for paint.
