I asked about this model at an appliance store today and was told that it is manufactured by another company for Bosch and it was not made well. They had trouble with the same model in the gas version.

I have the LG LSE4617ST which is similar to the LG Studio LSIS6338F which should perform nearly identically. I didn't consider the Bosch Benchmark HIIP057U because it doesn't have knobs, has a single power control for all elements, and has a tricky installation (the glass cooktop rests on the adjacent countertops). The labels on the digital control panel are not lit but I find them easy to read. There are a few reviews of the Bosch on the Appliances Connection website and lots of reviews of LG induction ranges on the Home Depot, Best Buy, and Lowes websites.

wdccruise so you are pretty happy with your model overall? Did it fit flat against your backsplash?

I'm happy with the LG LSE4617ST and you can push it flat against the back wall.

I have the LG LSE4616ST in a second home. I am pretty happy with it overall. Mine is flush against the back wall, but you must follow the instructions on where to place the electrical outlet for it. When using the oven, you will hear the fan and it vents directly onto the cook top, but I do not find it overpowering noise wise. I do find that the oven racks don't slide easily- but since I rarely bake in the summer, it is a minor annoyance.

I actually have a thin strip of granite in the back of my GE Cafe. I hope this unit will fit in the space…

The Bosch has a wait time of 4 to 6 months. I'm not sure if they are having distribution issues. The fan noise in the LG scares me a bit...

Are knobs a good thing to have with induction ranges? It seems cleaner to go all digital.

Knobs have been around on ranges of all sorts for a while. I don't think they are difficult to keep clean. Depends on your fingers mostly. Sometimes you'll have to have dry fingers to use digital controls on glass tops. And look at where you place your fingers on the glass. Not a real problem. Just personal preference. I don't know what that means. There is a fan but is not loud. The LG LSE4617ST has one (of three) gliding rack that the $800-less-expensive LG LSE4616ST does not.

I love my Bosch induction cooktop and separate Bosch oven.

The cooktop is an easy learning curve because it has numbers that you just "press". So when I want a high heat, I press 7.5 or 8. If I want to boil water quickly I press speed boil.

I also love that each hob has a separate timer so if I'm making rice and it says simmer for 20 minutes, I set the timer for 20 minutes and after 20 minutes the hob turns off. Perfect rice!

@dan1888 the industrial Bosch model you are referring looks very nice, but in the gas/dual fuel model gets awful reviews on the Bosch website. I've also heard this from another reputable appliance place that sells the Benchmark model but not the industrial model.

The Bosch model is brand new. It's industrial style but an 800 level model. You can contact a forum member for firsthand experience. Bosch industrial induction range vs Bertazzoni Professional (houzz.com) I'd choose it or the 800 touch control model over the LG. Depends on what fits with your overall kitchen design.

@dan1888 why would you choose this over the LG?

I own the Benchmark Induction Range. I love it! I love that it overhangs the countertop, which was something I worried about needlessly--as long as your countertops are level and within the height requirements it should not pose a problem. When you have a spillover it won't drip down between the range and the countertop.

I love the touch controls and the cook-timer hobs (I'm not sure if the Bosch Benchmark Range still offers this feature, too bad if they don't, it's one of my favorite features on my range). I'm not sure why a single control for all the hobs would be a problem? When I want to use the stovetop, I tap on/off and then I tap my finger on the power I need. If there is more than one pot on the stovetop, I tap my finger indicating which hob I need and then tap my finger on the power I need. It's not that hard to get used to and I actually find it kind of fun! So easy to adjust the power with a simple tap of my finger. Bosch Benchmark has three oven racks. The industrial model only has two racks and no warming drawer.

I have an LG induction range, and I'm quite happy with it; I didn't see anything in using the Bosch that would warrant that much of a price increase over the LG. It might last 15 years instead of 10, but I'm 60 years old and I don't mind if my appliances don't last longer than 10-12 years from now - it's not as if I'll be living here for the next 25 years.

@theresa21 How long have you owned your Bosch? Any problems with the edges of the glass chipping?

We've owned the Bosch Benchmark Range since July 2021. I worried too about the edges chipping in the beginning, but it has not been a problem. There is a metal support under the glass edge, which provides an interface between the countertop and the glass. You just get used to being somewhat careful around the glass stovetop. Likewise, I prefer to use silcone pads (most of the time) under cookware to protect the glass from scratches. A lot of people will tell you that silicone pads are totally not necessary, and I would agree with that, it's just something I prefer to do to be on the safe side and honestly, I don't like the sound of cast iron making contact with the glass surface. @theresa21 Do you still keep silicone on there all the time? Which pads did you end up getting?

@peanutmiracle I purchased a sheet of silicone and used various-size cans and a small bowl to make different-sized circular pads, which I then cut out. I place three or four pads down to support the edges of a pot, or I will use a single bigger pad for my tea kettle (because the single pad can be hidden underneath the kettle and left out on the cooktop full-time. Otherwise, the pads are placed on the stovetop only when I am using a hob. There is a theory that the pads could serve to lengthen the lifetime of a hob's performance, because the hot pot is not making direct contact with the stovetop, keeping the stovetop cooler. I mostly use the Hunts tomato sauce size. I use the biggest one for my tea kettle. Another advantage to using the pads is it helps you eyeball where to place the pot once the pads are in place. So just to update everyone...I decided to get the LG Studio model but then found out that it required a 50 amp circuit. The Bosch Benchmark only requires 40, which we already have in the house. We decided not to bother upgrading to a 50, so we went with the Benchmark. It should be in around 3 weeks.

Has anyone used the LoMi mats on the glass top? They look interesting.

I never bothered with the silicon or whatnots. You can put a paper towel down between your pot and cooktop for the same purpose. Or newspaper.

Not sure if this is the right thread to ask this. For those of you who purchased the Bosch Benchmark induction range, did it arrive with a plastic protective film over the stainless steel body that you have to peel off? Like their dishwashers?

The reason I ask is because a dealer delivered our new range and it did not come with the plastic film and it was defective so I am concerned it was a returned item.

^^^Honestly I don't remember since it was almost 5 years ago.

I don't recall but they may have peeled it off near the delivery truck outside before bringing it in to install.

Thanks for the quick response! Seems a but weird to just remove the film since they left the other plastic wrappers and blue tape on it but I guess it is possible.

I don't recall mine having the wrapper.
