Gray floors are a flipper look. I don't see gray doors as much, but if you have gray doors that locks you in to a gray-based color scheme throughout the house. If that fits your style there is nothing wrong with it, but do you think you'll still want it in ten years? White is used so often because of its flexibility. If you have to touch up a couple doors every couple years to me that sounds better than having to paint all of them when you want a different color scheme. Your dogs aren't hard on all of the doors are they? The inside of your front door can be a different color than the doors to the bedrooms for example.

Paint one door black just to prove you should not have painted them all black.

What is your favorite color? There are thousands of colors that are not gray or black or even white.

As long as your kitchen doesn't get direct sunshine on the cabinets, the black island is great. I have very dark green cabinets, and for a moment in the morning the sun hits the cabinets (east facing, only 1 window luckily) and it shows...everything....even beyond everything ;) I would not change my dark cabinets, absolutely love them BUT I would not have them in a sunny kitchen.

White doors with black hardware can be quite classy.

There are lots and lots of whites to choose from. Depends on your light.

I have an oak island and oak cabinets surrounding my fireplace. I did a very dark stain that I love. How about doing a black stain instead of black paint. If you pick a wood like a quarter sawn oak, the grain will show through and the issues with black won't be as obvious.

I don't know if using enamel paint would be helpful with some of the mentioned issues or not, but it wouldn't hurt to research that.

I think you could use a dark gray and still get the appearance you want without the problems associated with black.

While I have always loved the look of black doors that I have seen in magazines, I had never seen them in person until my daughter recently purchased a house that had random black doors is the kitchen, pantry, half bath, and hallway. Plus a black sink cabinet in half bath. They all looked awful!!! Scratched, discolored, marred. She painted them back to white to match the rest of the house. But then painted her stair handrailing black to match the iron spindles. 😁

I think that a gray door would be lovely, but not as dark as the above photo.

I used SW Repose Gray in my bathroom.

I think I would just do a darker gray since it sounds like your color choices are grays / blacks anywahy. I have 3 huge dogs , slobber is a daily issue and to be honest I would rather have a color where it shows . I have drl gray doors not quite as dark as the ones above and that color seems to be fine but really if youlove black do black no matter color you will still need to wipe off slobber and all knids of other stuff . In a kitchen everything makes mess that needs a wipe up. .
