Comments (12)I, too, love, love painted black doors!! Due to the colors in our home, we ended up doing dark brown/black doors (Pratt & Lambert Obsidian). I love it, although I still wish I had black doors. One day, when we are repainting the house, I will choose colors that go with black! So, to your question. I would do all the same hardware, whether ORB or brushed nickel, etc. I also would do all doors the same color. I went through the same process - thinking only the first floor with brown doors but I was convinced by a colorist to treat all interior doors with the same color treatment so all the doors are brown. I don't regret it for a minute! I really love the look. Here are a few pics - all hardware is brass, as that is what was here. I love the color but I am not crazy about the style. One day we will change them out. French doors: My den:...See MoreHe says-she says on paint color for cream kitchen cabinets..help!
Comments (8)I think it depends on how the layout of your house flows from room to room. If you have wood casings around your doorways so that each room has a start and end point for paint colors - then doing colors that are similar in tone but not exactly in the same color family works fine in my opinion. If you have an open floor plan where one wall is shared between two room then I think a common wall color is required. I think the green in your photo would be beautiful with creamy cabinets. The yellow in the photo you posted looks really yellow to me, and I guess I would picture more a light gold to go with that green ie. BM Pittsfield Buff or SW Believable Buff. I'd go with the green and the nice part is if you both don't like the green with the cabinets or with the color chosen for the foyer/LR, paint is easily fixed. I would focus on picking the perfect color for your cabinets and trim - that is a much bigger job to correct if the color is off!...See MoreI want to paint my FIREPLACE MANTEL BLACK. HELP!
Comments (56)Looks awesome! I do though, have to admit I don't understand the black hole. It doesn't appear like it would, however I'm not there and it's not my choice either ^_^ My walls will be Lancaster Whitewash by Benjamin Moore, and I'm doing Black Ink on the mantel and surround, because I love the soft black with the blue undertones. It's a nice contrast against the black of the gas insert. Ours is an open concept, foyer, living room and kitchen all one big room. Foyer being more elongated, then you walk into the rest. My absolute dream, is to find an old surround, maybe with a double mantel and mirror in it, and remove this new surround with mantel. I dig antiques...lol...See Morekandrewspa
