Need advice! uneven basement floor

Nari Kim
last year

Hi all,
First home, first home reno.
My house is split level and the basement looks like the first floor. I am using the basement for kids playroom. The subfloor is concrete.

I first planned to install luxury vinyl and we did it. The problem is the floor is extremely uneven. The highest part is 2-3 inch higher than the lowest part. My contractor did install the vinyl anyway and I feel like it pops up soon. So we remove all the vinyl.

I met other floor guys and here are the solutions I have. All these guys do not recommend complete leveling cause it costs a lot.

  1. Carpet. East and less costly. Warm in winter time. Worry about allergies.

  2. Installment of wood subfloor and install whatever I want on the top of it.

  3. Partial leveling and install softer vinyl flank. The current one seems to be really rigid.

Any suggestions? TIA.
