Happy National Peanut Butter Day!
Comments (10)Kings Arms Tavern in Colonial Williamsburg makes the best....may need to do this for dinner! from King's Arms Tavern Colonial Williamsburg, Williamsburg, Virginia Serves 10-12 Ingredients: * 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter * 1 medium onion, finely chopped * 2 celery ribs, finely chopped * 3 tablespoons flour * 8 cups Chicken Stock* (or low-salt canned chicken stock) * 2 cups smooth peanut butter * 1 1/2 cups light cream or half-and-half * Finely chopped salted peanuts, for garnish Instructions: In a large saucepan or soup pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onion and celery and cook, stirring often, until softened, three-five minutes. Stir in flour and cook two minutes longer. Pour in the chicken stock, increase the heat to high, and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce the heat to medium and cook, stirring often, until slightly reduced and thickened, about 15 minutes. Pour into a sieve set over a large bowl and strain, pushing hard on the solids to extract as much flavor as possible. Return the liquid to the sauce pan or pot. Whisk the peanut butter and the cream into the liquid. Warm over low heat, whisking often, for about five minutes. Do not boil. Serve warm, garnished with the chopped peanuts....See MoreHappy National Dog Day!
Comments (29)Ohhh, I had no idea it was National Dog Day! Happy Doggie Day to all you wonderful canines! Here's my Howie. He rescued me back in April of this year six weeks after losing our 11 year old chocolate Lab. I was not coping well when he showed up on our patio one cold, dark, stormy night. He was soaking wet, starving, full of fleas and had been shot. Discovered 2 months later that he had heart worms :( Just finished the protocol for that on Oct 1. He's been thru hell and back but is one very happy and grateful dog and I am very blessed that he chose me to be his guardian :)...See MoreNational Weed Appreciation Day - Part Two!
Comments (214)A very late comment here but... I'm back at my yard/garden and I have more weeds than I can possibly appreciate. Anyone feel a need for some? I'll surely share. The only one on the list that I can't find so far is purselane. I'm sure there is some here. I just have not started working in the right area yet....See MoreHappy National Filet Mignon Day!
Comments (28)Around here (Western Pa) its labled **ribeye delmonico* Strips are labled **New York Strip** First and only time I ever had FM was a few years ago we were guests at a Disney Producers house for Christmas dinner. .it was all you could eat FM. OMG it was the most tender piece of beef ever to enter my mouth. I think about it often and have even had some dreams. LOL. Truthfully I've never been successful at cooking steak...maybe because I prefer more on the done side..pink is fine but can't do red. I'm not much of a meat eater but a few times a year I crave a good steak which I've been thinking about porterhouse lately from the other thread. LOL. Eventually I'll get some and cook like you all do...with salad and baked potato oozing butter. .gosh I have myself drooling....See MoreBunny
