miele speed oven AND xxl combi-steam placement

I think i'm going to get a speed oven to go with my combi-steam instead of a regular second oven.

Are there suggested height/order to stack? Should the combi be on top or bottom?

Has anyone done this and do you have pictures to share?

I think most will recommend the combi on top of the stack due to steam that escapes when the door is open after a heavy steam cycle. My CSO is stacked over my Speed. I have the XL. You want the bottom of the CSO to be at a comfortable height for you to place food in/out. Since the door drops down you will have to lift over the door or use the side. The extension rack will help but not always used with the steam or baking pan provided that go directly on the side rack supports. The bottom of my door is 47” and I am 5’. I would not want it any higher and a couple of inches lower wouldn’t hurt. Not sure how much higher the XXL is and you want to make sure you can get to the panel easily.

In my previous house my Mieles CSO XXL was placed under the counter in the island. I didn't have room for it anywhere else and I was able to use the water supply and drain from the prep sink next to the CSO. I was happy to have the CSO, but didn't love the low installation height.

In the house we built this year I went with the Miele CSO XXL again and this time installed it in the wall with a Miele coffee machine above it. The CSO height was determined by how high I could place the Miele coffee machine and have that also be comfortable to use. The top of my CSO ended up at 41". I'm not that tall, so that is a comfortable height for me to place things in the CSO. Got a plumbed unit again and was able to connect to the drain and water line of the laundry room sink on the other side of the kitchen wall. Plumbed is the way to go. I use the soak/rinse cycle after nearly every use, to keep the CSO clean, and having it plumbed means that all I have to do is press a few buttons and the CSO does all the work. No filling or emptying water containers.

As far as steam, that should not influence where you place the CSO. No different that a regular oven. When you open a very hot oven, either in a low range or higher on the wall, you will get a blast of heat. With the CSO you will learn to open the door slowly, take a step back and not stick your face over the door! Not an issue and humans are capable of learning quickly! :-)

I find dual fuel to be mostly a marketing gimmick and not really relevant in practical use. I cook and bake in both gas and electric ovens, and it is easy to adjust for both. Gas is naturally drier, as the oven has to have a vent. But that can easily be compensated for by putting the food into an enclosed container (e.g. a Dutch oven). Electric ovens are naturally higher humidity, but not really enough to make a big difference. On the other hand, the CSO has very precise control for humidity over a very large range; and it also has very precise temperature control, which is great for things like sous-vide cooking, yeast proofing, yoghurt making, ... Also, the CSO has a stainless steel interior, so it doesn't suffer from the issues with flaking glass bits that lots of other electric ovens seem to experience, no matter the manufacturer. I personally love our combination of the best-in-class Bluestar gas range, and the best-in-class Miele CSO. These two appliances are very different and thus complement each other perfectly.

I have been researching various Miele combinations for the CSO and the CO both 24 inches wide. I had designed an alcove in the kitchen 90 degrees from the island for stackable CO and then the CSO XL. Both are the Sensotronic because the CO 24 inches doesn't come in the M touch. The CSO is unplumbed because I was told that filling the water and emptying the condensation tray is really easy. I am now re-thinking these choices. I thought getting the CSO XL was nice for daily cooking along with the induction cookop (Miele 30 inch or 36 inch, still deciding). But in looking at the XXL, it seems I could just get the XXL M touch and plumbed. Any thoughts: Is having the CSO XXL enough. I hear it takes an 18-turkey. The only reason to get the CO is perhaps for making a pizza, but the CSO XXL also has an intensive heat option. This is for a new home construction. All the Miele literature shows these gorgeous kitchens with all these stackable appliances. But having a single XXL at the right height as a wall unit also seems elegant, especially the M touch. We got all our appliances in mid august (DGC7785/H7780/DA2698/KM6370) had ordered them all in late March As we were doing paneled beverage center and wanted a seamless look for when we replaced our Bosch Benchmark DW we inquired with Pirch on the 7966 DW and they just happened to have 5 come into stock so we got incredibly lucky and snagged one Hopefully have all installed in 2 weeks or less! Very interested to see when they release the 7000 series induction cooktops as we really wanted that originally

Hard to advise, without seeing a layout of your kitchen. We have the Miele combi steam, and Miele convection wall ovens. You might be able to accommodate the microwave on a shelf, with a built-in look, as we have. We tucked the Breville toaster oven underneath. Both are adjacent to the fridge.
