Almost surely. Any remaining insulation probably has urine exposure and will generate an awful odor when heated during operation. Not to mention the high heat output onto the exterior surfaces and associated danger that will occur without sufficient insulation present around the oven cavity.

Possibly but extensive disassembly is required. OEM insulation panels from the manufacturer may be NLA (you didn't state the model number), replacement panels would need to be fabricated/devised from other material if so. Finding a servicer to take on the job is likely to be a challenge if you can't DIY it.

ETA: There may also be other damage such as chewed wires.

Yes of course anything might be possible but why wouid you attempt it

And even if it theoretically could be fixed, I imagine the cost would be not be worth it since there are relatively inexpensive stoves. I imagine if you are considering a urine and feces riddle stove, you would be fine with a *normal* stove that heated food in a manner that most people would work with their basic cooking needs - i.e. you aren't eyeing a $20,000 pro style.

Maybe check to see if your homeiwners policy might cover the cost?

I was trying to keep story brief but in its entirety:
It’s a 10k thermador.
8 years old. Worked perfectly well until one burner stopped working.

Repair person broke something with two of the burners when trying to repair the one non working burner (his company admitted it was his fault but said it was a thermador design flaw to begin with). Only then were we told that stove was shot because insulation eaten by mice. We’ve never seen mouse droppings or smelled urine - so this was news to us. There is not any trace of mouse droppings inside stove. Repair company told us it wasn’t worth them fixing the burners their guy broke because the stove couldn’t be used due to mice eating away at insulation. They offered to sell us a new commercial range at discount. Told us not to use stove - and under NO circumstances should we turn on broken burners.

We went from having one non-working burner to having an entire range we can’t use. Story is a bit suspect. I was hoping I could just pay them to repair insulation and insist they cover cost of repairing burners that they broke.

Not sure if any of this info changes any of the feedback I’ve gotten.

Hire a different repair company. Or learn to DIY. Thermador is not that difficult to repair.

AnnieDemos, you didn't directly observe the destroyed insulation but you did visually confirm there are no droppings, and there is no urine odor? Or the whole situation is on word of the servicer? Seems highly unlikely there was a mouse infestation and destroyed insulation but no droppings or urine. Perhaps the service outfit fabricated the story (or even "chewed" the insulation) to avoid repairing the burners broken by their guy. There's no way they'd sell a new range to you at loss regardless of a discount offer on it.

dadoes - I was not present when the repair person pulled the stove out. I am going on his word. But no, I have never noticed any urine smell - and have never found droppings inside the stove. That being said, we occassionally find a mouse in our kitchen so I can't say for sure that one didn't damage the stove. I will pull it out and look for myself.

Droppings wouldn't necessarily be inside the oven cavity. You would need to remove the exterior rear panel of the range to check the area where the insulation is located. You haven't cited the model number. Is it a dual-fuel range with gas cooktop burners and electric oven, or the whole thing is gas?
