Anyone do their 2010 orders yet?
Comments (66)Completely out of space so no newbies for me this year----previous ones are establishing nicely, although I think I may have lost some of the (luckily cheaper) ones that I tried in the ground due to our unusually cold winter. Mainly I grow in very large pots as the ground where I live is VERY poor---dry and stony and only a few inches deep on top of a stone shelf so only especially hardy ones go in the ground for lanscaping alongside hardy geraniums. I have LAKE EFFECT, the first year I was not impressed at all, I thought the colour was FOUL, but last year it was really nice and is coping well with British weather (much better than I am) so it is one worth keeping for a few year even if you don't like it initially....See MoreAnyone hearing Robins Yet?
Comments (1)Here in eastern KS I have seen flocks of Am. Robins all winter long. They have been vocalizing for at least a couple of weeks. What was noteworthy to me was the vocalization of the No. Cardinals in early February. A bit on the early side. I saw Red-tailed Hawks beginning their courtship and working on their nests in mid-Feb. Also a tad early. Then we got about a foot-and-a-half of snow, but love is still in the air. P.S. I am originally from NE Ohio myself (Trumbull County)....See More"Jersey Boys": Has Anyone Seen It Yet?
Comments (24)Thanks for all the reviews! Cyn, how cool is that ?!? I had a similar experience with a certain famous Rolling Stone back in my early twenties. My kids were at first mortified when they found out, but now (finally) think that it's kind of neat, but funny. Still, those stories are great ones . . . after the fact, and many years later . . . to pass on to our kids and future generations. Mom/Grandma wasn't always so old and "out of it" (LOL)! Comments (6)LOVED it. Yes, gallons and gallons of that fake blood. Saw an interview where Alan Rickman said it was everywhere--even in his underwear. The music wasn't strange (if you've seen Sweeney Todd before, it was pretty much done exactly by the script). One of the things I really liked about it was that the actors did their own singing. No, none of them are professionals singers, but they worked hard to prepare for their roles, and it was refreshing that the singing voices actually matched the speaking ones. Can you tell I really hate when they bring in pro's to dub in the singing on musicals? It's probably not for everyone, but having seen it Saturday, I now can't wait for it to come out on video so I can watch it a few more times. I thought it was really well-done, and Johnny Depp was, as always, brilliant in the part. He's such a good actor, and so rarely gets enough credit for his skill. Just don't go expecting a bright and cheery, feel-good musical (it's no Sound of Music or Mary Poppins--LOL)...See More- 4 years ago
