Your question is far too broad for a specific answer. There are several details that need to be addressed. What is the total wattage required for the lighting and power tools you intend to use? What loads are present on the circuit you intend to tap into? Is it a 15 or 20 amp circuit? While I'm sure some of the greenhouse forum members have done their own electical work, I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. There is far too much potential for loss or damage. You might want to post this question on one of the electrical forums. I've seen similar questions there. I hope this suggestion proves helpful.

While there will be a lot of wind at 60 (Probably more realistic 70) mph will be significant, I would hope the shed could withstand the winds at that speeds. It should be constructed to with stand on between 100 and 120 depending on the local building codes. You can get 60 mph winds in a summer storm, and much higher if there is a nearby hurricane. What it can with stand will be dependent on the shed construction. A 2 X 4 stud wall with a 4' X 8' panel nailed on can with stand a lot of pressure. I still think even with what I have said above that the torsion stress on putting the wheels directly on the shed and not using a trailer would destroy the shed.

Congratulations tinker1121 on the upcoming shed! Just a few quick comments for you to consider. Will you be preparing a concrete or cement pad for under the shed? (Stops a lot of bugs and termites.) Wooden DIY shed kits usually require additional materials (like shingles) and may not come with a floor kit. Vinyl sheds can be installed in a few hours but they may need to be anchored down if you live in a windy area. How will you run electricity to the shed and do you have any local codes that need to be met to do this? If you live in a snow zone - will the roof be able to withstand the weight of the snow? Will you install windows and a workbench or overhead loft storage space? And finally, will you need a permit or permission from the homeownerâÂÂs association before you build the shed? Sorry to sound like your mom, but once you build the shed you will be amazed how you lived without one for so long! Best wishes and please tell us what you decided.

I'm just going to run a bigger extention cord ... Funny you should mention that. Many years ago I started having trouble with the underground conduit to my detatched garage (in a different house from the one I have now). Throwing the inside 3-way switch for the garage light in one direction would blow the fuse. It was winter and the wires in the conduit were type R in a lead jacket (I kid you not; this was probably installed in the 1930s or so) and just wouldn't pull. I didn't feel like beating my head against the problem just then, so for a while I just left the inside switch in the "right" position. Then one day I found the fuse blown again, so I disconnected all the wiring to the garage. However, I still needed light and a battery charger out there (remember, this was winter), so I laid a 14-3 SJ extension cord under a shrub, and ran it across maybe 8" of lawn to the garage. When I needed power in the garage, I plugged it in at the house. I intended to use this awful lashup only until spring, but you know these things go sometimes. :\ Anyway, probably 4 or 5 years later, I plugged in my power cord one day and it went pfffft. When I looked under the shrub, I found that the cord had sunk into the earth. I pulled it up, and the rubber jacket and conductor insulation literally peeled off as I did. Surprise! There's a really good reason that extension cords are approved only for temporary use. I trenched the back yard a couple of weeks later. The story has no moral. :)
