What Size Mirrors For Master Bathroom
Comments (2)I agree with palimpsest - choose mirrors that are the same size as the vanities if they are the same size. Use the space around it for lights perhaps (sconces,) towel rings, makeup mirror, art or the like! With that angled cabinet you have a beautiful feature wall that could have gorgeous art and really be a knockout!...See Moreyear-old home, link to pictures, LONG with details
Comments (14)Thanks so much for all of your kind comments! Lnersesian, I just posted a floor plan in photobucket. Sorry for the delay - all of our "official" floor plans are on giant architect-sized paper, not scanable with what I have here at home, so I just sketched one out. The walls are easy to identify but some of the notes I made aren't so easy to read, I apologize... if you have questions, I'll check back from time to time so I can answer them. At least it gives you an idea about the flow. The exposed beams are another idea we took from "Not So Big House." It gives a sense of separation between the living, dining and kitchen because it is all one room. It is nice to have den as an "away room" from the noise of the TV at times. carolyn53562, we used fir wainscoting in the downstairs bath. It was old - about 75 years - stored in my parent's garage all these years. They never used it and no longer wanted it. It was darker than some of the newer fir we bought because of its age. We just used a clear lacquer finish on it. The bay window is great for letting in morning light. The dining/island area could be a little dark without it, although it is nicely lit in the afternoon. I haven't made a cushion for that area yet, but anticipate it will be a nice reading spot when that's done. Last winter we did feel like we were living in a postcard! I love the quiet of snowfall... it was mud city when it melted though! Thanks again for all of your nice comments. It has been so inspiring to see all of the finished homes here, I just had to share our own....See MoreHELP! What size mirror for 72inch vanity?
Comments (5)Thank you for your help! That's a good thought! Unfortunately, we've already primed the new drywall and have a single light electrical set up, so I think I'm stuck with a single mirror now based on the lighting. There also wouldn't be room for sconces on either side of the mirrors since the frames would be right next to the shower wall/bedroom wall if we had 2 so it wouldn't look as nice as yours!...See MoreArticulating sconces above mirrors in master bath
Comments (6)I put bright tube sconces above each medicine cabinet because my design changed in the years between buying the lights and installing them. Originally, they were supposed to go one on either side of the two med cabs, which were going to be very close together, side-by-side. If I wore makeup, the lighting at my mirrors would not be ideal. I do believe that the designer-types here are right when they say that mirrors need side sconces. My lights project the light out into the room and do not really create shadows. But they do not really give even light on the face. Luckily, my DH says that he does not notice this for shaving! Your down lights will create shadows under every protrusion on the face - brow ridge, nose, and hair. I do love the look of these lights, but I think they are better mounted like this in a laundry or above a potting sink....See MoreLeslie
