Lighting plan for master bath. Wall fixture? Sconces?
Comments (14)Breezy- I am glad to help. We have tons of natural light in our new house, which I only know because we don't have power yet. So we rely on the natural light when we are over there all the time. I went against what others have recommended and did both recessed and sconces on the vanity for two reasons- 1. I wanted really good light for makeup, etc. 2. The recessed cans can sometimes be really warm when I am getting dressed and drying my hair. For that task, I wanted sconces only so that I could turn off the recessed lights. 3. I wanted the recessed because I didn't want to be able to see the sconce lit up on the wall from our bed (if we were to leave it on during the night) Hope that helps. Your electrician should be able to help you too. I told them where (for kitchen and bath) I wanted to have recessed and they helped more than anyone else in measuring distances, etc....See MorePlacement of sconces in Master Bath
Comments (1)Great looking fixtures and all look very sleek and modern. I'd be a little concerned about whether the "outdoor" one has a finish that would look as refined as the others and maybe not quite right for the bathroom. I would NEVER choose florescent. But since many of the fixtures you are considering offer different bulbs that should not be a limitation. My only concern about on the mirror mounting would be the quality and material of the bulb cover. If it isn't open at the back. It should be OK, not giving you a sharp glare off the glass. Most of these fixtures can be mounted either horizontal or vertical, so you are not committed to a final lay out either way. I'd order my two favorite incandescent and send one back....See Moreadvice for master bath remodel - lighting, mirrors, etc.
Comments (7)I would use a large mirror across the whole space, remove the medicine cabinet, and use two side sconces and lighting above the mirror. The space isn't really large enough for two mirrors. With a new vanity you may have better storage and not need the medicine cabinet. To me, the shower tile doesn't work well with the shower floor or the bathroom floors. I'd use a solid white tile for the shower walls, which would be brighter than your floors and look good with the small blue tiles....See Moresconces, overhead lighting, or backlit mirror in small master bath?
Comments (6)How about a nice classic pivot mirror. I had Minka Lavery ones installed by hubby when I had my small bathrooms remodeled. I also purchased all my lighting from schoolhouse.com. Check out their website❣️They have great high quality lights and they are handmade in America at their Portland Oregon factory. I love classic understated lights. I chose a vintage looking ceramic “Norfolk Sconce” over my mirror that was pressed, cut, and glazed by hand. For the ceiling I chose an “Otis” surface mount in polished nickel that is heavy gauge solid American brass and hand finished in their patina shop. The shades are opal glass. My electrician was quite impressed with their quality too. Schoolhouse.com has lots of vintage, modern ,and classic inspired lighting as well as other items. I am thrilled they are made in America and hubby and I made it our mission to purchase items “made in America”, when possible, when we renovated our home. Best of luck in your renovation journey ❣️...See MoreBri Bosh
