Comments (4)Would you mail that to me, Cori Ann, I'm your friend--ha? That bouquet is soooo exquisite. Will you try the black sweet peas in your dark bed? There are more suggestions for this bed on the Falling Into Spring thread. You've got to try a Cajun Hibiscus....See MoreMadame Anisette albino leaves?
Comments (6)Sultry, it's in a pot so I turned it to stay out direct light. They are thinner compared. I'm afraid they'll get burnt. I have a hunch they're variegated but probably not worth rooting. I guess I'll just enjoy and document. It does look kinda neat :)...See Moremadame anisette is blooming
Comments (7)I love my Madame Anisette. It's from RU and is own-root. I obtained mine spring of 2018. It bloomed very little the very first growing season. It did grow quite a bit and resembled a climber. That winter, which killed my Crimson Glory and Charlotte Armstrong, did cause die-back, but I still had more than half of Madame Anisette remaining. Best part? They were all planted in the same bed within four to five feet of each other In subsequent years, Madame Anisette has grown vigorously and has typical Hybrid Tea upright canes so far but do branch nicely. I've gotten new basal breaks each spring. Her secondary re-bloom has improved, but it essentially blooms twice for me and that's fine. So far it seems to have topped out around 3.5-4' tall and maybe 2.5' wide. It is a baby yet, after all. Completely cane hardy last winter, exceptional disease resistance here in black spot country and no powdery mildew so far. We don't get rust, hooray! I find its scent is better in warm, humid environs. It can be virtually absent to me at times, so it's a variable fragrance. Notably, a friend of mine can't really smell it like I can, and sometimes it's very strong. I find it very spicy, rich, hint of vanilla that soothes some of the more bitter, harsher tones. It can make my nose feel a little "burny" if that makes any sense. So far, a winner for me even if thrips ruin some June blooms! She reminds me in bloom almost like a tea but with firmer pedicels. I have some more pictures, but I must get around for work! Steven...See MoreTop Cream vs Madame Anisette
Comments (8)I got Top Cream at Otto’s this year in April. I hadn’t planned on getting it but my spouse was enamored with it and I secretly wanted to get another rose so I figured I won’t say no to him so he won’t say no to me. In three months it’s hard to say but I think Top Cream will also be tall. It’s grown bolt upright and is super healthy; it’s one of the few roses this year that didn’t get a hint of mildew or rust. The blooms very closely resemble Bolero but have the fragrance more like Madame Anisette, but so far less strong (it’s also own root probably 2nd year, potted 5 gallon). I don’t grow Madame Anisette but do grow Bolero and so far this just seems so similar to Bolero but more cupped, slightly cream but that fades to white quickly. Maybe next year it’ll mature and the fragrance will get stronger but right now it’s more moderate strength. I will say it is more healthy than Bolero which right now has some black spot and PM despite being in full sun, while Top Cream is sort of dappled right now until it gets taller (which is happening quickly)....See Morelibrarian_gardner_8b_pnw
