Very hard to advise till other elements are completed - get your cabinets painted and new countertop installed, and then re-post. We have nothing to compare the tiles to right now...

I bought all the remaining glass mosaic when Susan Jablon was closing out a color. Was across the Atlantic and couldn't measure the bathroom. Had lots of boxes left over. After hurricane Irma destroyed another bathroom, I was able to re-tile that one with the leftovers! Love it so much.

Choose a cabinet color that works with the tile.

@latifolia That is great to hear! Guess what, I too bought this mosaic tile from Susan Jablon! She’s the best. Here is a photo of the shower I did with this tile… no windows in this bathroom so it looks a little less sparkly (and not a very clear photo):

Here's my second bathroom. We lost our roof in the hurricane, the tile boxes got wet and all the tile fell off. Susan sent us grids and papers, we scrubbed every tile and I reset them.

IMO the Mother of Pearl tile looks best when placed next to gray cabinets. It focuses the attention on the tile.

@BeverlyFLADeziner Thank you,I never thought of that, makes sense. It does look particularly nice next to the taupe-y counter in the photo with the coffeemaker and paper towels. If I could find just the right warm gray cabinet color I'd consider not painting them white. But I had been steering away from gray. Wonder how it would work with Swiss Coffee? Though I'm really not wanting a cream hue of paint... always looks dingy to me, at least eventually

If you don't want gray then if your home can support this consider a blue like you see below or a greige color like you see below.

@BeverlyFLADeziner The island actually is to be painted either SW Krypton or BM Glass Slipper, similar to the blues in the photos you posted. Some of my walls are already painted Glass Slipper. I've been still leaning toward white cabinetry though. If I'm to use the mother of pearl white for backsplash, it remains for me to figure out which white the cabinets should be. Setting off the white sparkle of the backsplash, as you recommend, makes sense. Simply White, which is what I was originally thinking, would be pretty white of course - even though it's a warm white it is not off white in the least. Hmm...

I don't think you want a warm white for the cabinets

your tile has the blues and pink/coral coming thru. If kitchen will work this way I'd paint the lowers a navy and white uppers. Here is Mother of pearl with primarily neutrals..... but

you have to work with the colors coming thru if you will use the stock that you have. I like some of the navy on lowers anyway so I'd do that..get the counters....then backsplash and wall cab color in select white shade to be the final activity. I wouldnt use the stock you have unless you really like it...I do like M O P but I'd have to love those blues/pinks and the tiny mosaic. there are bigger sizes and shapes in M O P.

How about a very light turquoise on the cabinets? I've seen some beautiful kitchens that color. Gray and navy/white seem overdone.

I don’t think iridescent mini tile looks good in a kitchen.

I do not think backsplash should rule the other elements in a kitchen and honestly those tiles were a poor choice in the shower too.Get the cabinet color you like choose your counters and then see if that tile works with the major elements in the space not the other way around. Your cabinets look like they need a lot of work before painting and I hope you are not DIYing the paint job. I would need to see the whole space after the cabinets are done and the counter isin but IMO MOP is not a choice usually . Those many grout lines are IMO not pracctical in a kitchen or a shower and are best used as maybe an accent.

Thanks all. I am in fact not planning to install backsplash until the cabs are painted (by my very experienced handyman who said they are mostly in great shape except for a small few). I also have been leaning away from the mosaic tile. It looks beautiful in the shower but it’s really not ideal for the kitchen true.

The irridescent tile is really pretty the white is beauifutl i love it in the shower you did i dont know if id use it in a kirchen though. i just picked up my order of irridescent tiles, but will be using them in my bathroom; i jist associate irridescent tiles in bathroooms. that just my opinion though, no rhyme or reason behind it . i say if it makes you smile, go for it

Too much bling for a kitchen. Looks nice in your bathroom
