do you think a lacanche range helps or hurts when trying to sell home?
Comments (20)Heather, I agree with the posters that 5 years is a long time, and your plans may change and you may stay there longer, so if an Lacanche is what you really want go for it. I do have to concede, however, anything other than a basic stainless steel oven will be a negative to some buyers. If you watch any of the house hunting programs, they will walk in and see a low end stainless stove - like a entry level GE, and say "wow, really high end appliances". Anything out of the ordinary, like bold colors on the walls, or appliances, or anything out of the ordinary will throw some people off and be a negative. That is why real estate agents want you to paint the walls in neutral colors. If you are pretty sure you are moving in 5 years, try to get one in a standard size, and take it with you when you leave, and put in the most basic stainless steel range you can find, would probably be a good option....See MoreNeed advice on Lacanche French ranges
Comments (11)Bonjour Elaine, Cheri and plllog are correct, our Lacanche ranges are fairly easy to work on for a qualified technician familiar with high-end appliances, and they love the fact that there are no electronics to worry about. We have worked with local technicians all across Canada, even in "remote" areas, and I know that it's the same for our colleagues in the USA. I am sure it won't be a problem to find a technician in or around a city like Charlotte, NC. On the other hand, I have seen one of our clients purchase a $10k+ fridge from a reputable brand with a "factory-certified local technician", only to find out a few months later that he wouldn't come out to service that brand anymore, leaving them high and dry with no choice but returning the unit. I often tell our Lacanche owners that word-of-mouth and comments on forums like this one and GW are our main (only) form of marketing, so it's in our best interest to make sure that all of our clients are happy with their range and the service we provide! I am sure it sounds like a broken record coming from an "appliance vendor", but I know that we and Art Culinaire have gone and will continue to go above and beyond what's required to make sure that each Lacanche owner has a wonderful experience. If you love the idea of cooking on and looking at your Lacanche range everyday, I wouldn't let the thought of servicing steer you away from it. Comments (10)We love our plumbed steam oven. Most versatile appliance in the kitchen. It gets used more frequently than any other oven. At times, I find that I wouldn't mind having two CSO, if that was possible (but then, I rearrange my schedule and make do with one). We also went through the same thought process that you had and realized that we still need a microwave albeit infrequently. So, we got a SpeefOven to amortize the space needs. Overall, that worked out ok. But I find I rarely use the speed function. It's either used as a microwave or as an overflow oven (or impromptu warming drawer). We also have a oven in our range. It's much bigger, but I rarely actually need that. Also, it takes much longer to preheat. So, it gets used very rarely. It's main appeal is the amazing broiler burner. In conclusion, I'd absolutely recommend getting a CSO and placing it somewhere that is easily accessible. I feel less strongly about the SpeedOven. You won't necessarily regret buying it; but if you already have enough ovens, you might be just as well served with a $100 countertop model in the pantry....See MoreLacanche Induction Range vs. Cornufe Induction Range?
Comments (4)Hello @MeiLun Lau ! Thank you for considering Lacanche for your new home. As you may already know, Lacanche is not yet available with a full induction top in North America. The R&D and UL-approval process are well underway but of course like most of everything else, have been delayed this past year. For the time being, all Lacanche ranges 44" and above come with at least 3 gas burners that can be complemented by 1 or more 2-burner induction module. If you are looking for an all-induction top now, I'm afraid Lacanche is out of the running. In terms of service, we are the Canadian distributor for Lacanche and we work with local technicians across the country, including Western Canada. We have many clients in larger cities like Calgary and Vancouver, and quite a few as well in more remote areas in between. All service requests come to us first, then we can put you in contact with the closest technician. If you haven't yet, please feel free to reach out directly to our Sales Manager Tom at sales @ french-barn . com . All the best, Patrick...See MoreRavi Nandan
