After having such a horrible experience with the Kenmore electric range, I am afraid to try Kenmore again. Still have some extended warrranty left which will transfer to the Samsung. I have had great luck with my other Samsung appliances, so I hope I do with the range also. My husband laughed at me when I told him that the appearance of the Kenmore just left me cold, but when he saw it, he felt the same way. Blah. Can't put my finger on why. gscience chick, after baking I usually leave my oven door cracked open in the winter anyway for the heat boost to the kitchen. My son uses Circulon Infinite pans on his induction and really likes them. (Interesting to get cooking advice from my son!) In browsing the net, Circulon has a 25% off sale this month as well as deep discounts on the Infinite (looks like Symmetry will be replacing it). I found an 11 inch skillet for roughly $18 and a twin pack 10 and 12 skillet for $36 (Symmetry), etc. Then on the potsandpans.com website I was able to find the 3qt saucepan for a really good price. I have a few pots and pans that I can use from before (I hope). Two of them have 8 3/4" bases - hope I can use them . . . I love my Calphalon Contemporary saucepans and hate to lose them, but I see that they are coming out with a Contemporary IH line (induction friendly) - in Australia, but not here yet. Maybe soon . . .? Guess my life is kind of dull when I can get so excited about a new range! Any hints and suggestions will be appreciated!

Sherean; I've had the GE Induction Range for about 6 weeks. Switched over from a Sears Smooth top range, with which I despised greatly. I grew up cooking with gas. I LOVE LOVE LOVE (did I mention I love this range?) this range. I will be redoing my kitchen this summer, we bought this range early b/c Sears had a fabulous sale in October (I got it for $2159). I also decided against wall ovens as I have a convection micro: that and the range provide plenty of oven space. I love the responsiveness of the burners (the middle warming hob is radiant, not induction, btw -- not a problem). The Convection oven is large, has worked wonderfully. The warming drawer was fabulous at Christmas -- we had many people over 5 hours and it really worked well at staging the biscuits and meat. The rangetop is a joy and soooo easy to clean, compared to that #$^%%$# smoothtop that is sitting in my garage. My only complaint thus far is that fingertips show easily on the control panel - but disappear easily with a microfibre cloth. Oh, and the timer has a weenie beep, compared to the ^%$^&^%$%% old smoothtop. I bought a Circulon Infinite set and a Henckels International Classic Clad. I have been very pleased with both sets. One word of warning, it took 3 delivery dates to get the range, it was delievered 6 weeks after I bought it. Plan accordingly. Here's a link where I have 2 posts discussing more about the range. If you have not seen them, this thread and this one have discussions of the Bosch Benchmark slide-in by actual users. The GE induction ranges have been among the most popular with users here at gardenweb., so there are lots of threads discussing them. The components of the GE Profile PHS920 are very similar to those of the freestanding version, the PHS920. The main difference is that the front control panel on the slide-in reduces the usable cooktop space by a couple of inches. Otherwise, you can check out reviews for both. The induction set-up is very similar to the predecessor models, the PHS925 and PHB925, so reviews of those also may be helpful. (The main difference that I can see is that the "920" models let you link the controls for the two 8" burners on the left where the "925" models did not have linking.) The "920" models have been out for three years and something now, so most of the discussions are a little older. Here's a thread in case you have not seen it. The search strings "gardenweb + GE induction range" and "gardenweb + PHS920" turned up a lot more threads here plus some from Chowhound, too. The latest versions of the PHS/PHB920 are supposed to have the smartphone connections and controllability, but I have not seen any reports yet on how it works or does not work. The Frigidaire induction slide-in is far and away the least expensive induction slide-in (about $1400 "in the cart" at AJ Madison, for example). However, there has been very little comment on it here from actual users. As with other Frigidaire electric-slide-in ranges, the oven vents to the front of the stove. You could research those models to find comments and opinions about that featue.

@peanutmiracle I purchased a sheet of silicone and used various-size cans and a small bowl to make different-sized circular pads, which I then cut out. I place three or four pads down to support the edges of a pot, or I will use a single bigger pad for my tea kettle (because the single pad can be hidden underneath the kettle and left out on the cooktop full-time. Otherwise, the pads are placed on the stovetop only when I am using a hob. There is a theory that the pads could serve to lengthen the lifetime of a hob's performance, because the hot pot is not making direct contact with the stovetop, keeping the stovetop cooler. I mostly use the Hunts tomato sauce size. I use the biggest one for my tea kettle. Another advantage to using the pads is it helps you eyeball where to place the pot once the pads are in place.
