Comments (1)My only advice is that if your spending that much money, you are at least in part, spending some of that on aesthetics. Under no circumstances would I spend so much money on something I thought was ugly or not absolutely beautiful. These stoves are outta my league so can't otherwise comment. Comments (150)Perhaps I'm just stubborn: I can identify with krobson's comments about the ovens, but would probably buy the range again, just because I love how it looks, am delighted by the stove top and all its possibilities and because I'm not bothered by 1/unreliable oven temperatures; and 2/difficulties in turning a turkey or a big brisket pan. This situation doesn't arise more than 10 times a year--I can live with that, and I don't have trouble turning a 12 inch cake pan. I've learned how best to use the ovens, but am not baking a great deal these days so I would approach something delicate like meringues with trepidation--or, at the very least, do a practice run. On the other hand, I lived in Russia for some years, and learned how to bake in their On-Off ovens, using a wooden spoon to hold the door open to adjust the temperature. You get to know the Lacanche ovens, and I've got to say that having a gas oven is wonderful--great bread, great meats. Variations in temperature are not as critical with this type of cooking as in baking cakes in the electric oven. I'm still happy with mine, and I don't imagine I'll ever have another stove--I expect this to last forever....See Moreneed advice re Lacanche Cluny
Comments (21)I did a lot of research before purchasing my CornueFe 110 for my new home four years ago. I considered the Lacanche Cluny, but ultimately chose the CornueFe. As far às for performance goes, it is a dream to cook with, and a tool that I use almost daily. The styling is beautiful and the overall construction can best be described as "solid" - especially compared to some of the other ranges mentioned in this discussion. I've had a couple of service issues, but all were handled quickly by PM. All of the ignition switches were not functional when it was installed. They had new switches flown in from France and reinstalled within two days. After about a year, the switches went out again. They sent a service repairman right away to replace them. He reinstalled the switches, only to have them fail upon testing. He took off the back panel and discovered a wire that wàs improperly routed over a rough metal piece, causing it to fray and arc. He was able to change the wire and run it through a protective sleeve. While I was disappointed that this was not caught by Quality Control at the factory, I can't say enough positive things about the service techs employed by PM. All in all, I can heartily recommend this as a quality range. The ovens are more than adequate and I love the side-swing configuration. The simmer burner is still a little too hot on the lowest setting, but that is easily overcome with a simmer plate or diffuser. I had 18 family members for Thanksgiving dinner and cooked the entire meal on it without a problem. The 20# Turkey came out perfectly browned and very moist in exactly 2 hours - no turning or basting! Good luck with your choice!...See MoreNeed help! La Cornue or Lacanche French Stove?
Comments (4)Hi there! Both the Lacanche and La Cornues are lovely stoves! Our Lacanche Cluny 1400 was installed a couple of weeks ago. We have an induction hob over the warming cupboard and then the Classique configuration over the ovens. Our kitchen reno is not yet complete (waiting on counters after a mishap during fabrication), but I have used the cooktop several times. I've used induction to keep soup cooking at a simmer. I've used the power burner and smaller burners as well. Everything responds well, quality is amazing and I have no complaints. I did bake brownies in the oven, and they cooked fast. I'm sure it has to do with the fact that the ovens are smaller and takes less time to heat. I have had no repairs. My contractor did have a few questions during installation and Art Culinaire was super responsive and walked him through his questions. I think you'll find on these message boards that AC is very active, responsive and supportive to all types of questions regarding the Lacanche ranges. Are you close to a showroom? If not, you can also be connected to an owner in your area to see their range in person....See MoreTHE FRENCH BARN - Lacanche Canada
