from the way he describes it, he is using a VOIP phone to get dialtone over the internet, NOT traditional POTS service. a NID only applies to POTS service and certain other telco supplied special circuits. since he is using his internet jack, i assume he has FTTC or FTTP or at the very least a dry pair DSL service. none of these require a dedicated NID. the old surge suppressors are a legal demarc point. they are not used anymore now that it is legal for the customer to test his own wiring, but still not "quite" legal for the customer to mess with the telco wiring. on the old suppressors, you almost have to remove the telco wiring with a wrench in order to test your wiring, on a NID you simply unplug a phone cord, or in some cases open the cover and it auto disconnects. in either case, the OP needs to disconnect the wires that come from the pole or ped to his house. but make sure you do not disconnect the ones that supply your internet connection. with no telco provided dial tone, sometimes the normal phone pairs are used to provide service for the dry pair DSL if that is what you have.

Here is a quick idea for you. I was thinking that I would like the sink/prep area in front of the bigger window. Also I think a lot of people like having an island so it maybe good for resale in a few years. You could just do the upper shelves on either side of sink from fridge to the corner. You only need to take the backsplash higher behind the range to just under the hood. I changed the hood to a 36" over your 30" stove, as that is what they recommend for better capture of smoke/steam/grease. Sorry didn't label what those cabs are, just picked out sizes that worked, but DW is to the right of sink. Just a thought to get your creative juices flowin' :-)

doc5md, I hear what you are saying about the aisles. I was rather disappointed to see that. I think this KD was telling me what I wanted to hear rather than giving good design (according to all I have read on GW). I think the large island is very visually appealing, if our floor plan accommodates it. It is where I envision my family gathering and my kids doing their school projects. I want it to accommodate five people because I don't want a kitchen table in that location since we have a dining room table adjacent to the space and can use it when we need a regular table. I am not necessarily restricting us from other designs. However, we currently have a peninsula and I feel trapped when I am in my kitchen when my husband or kids are around. You know, one way in and one way out. Because of our walkway to our garage entrance, we can't do a true u-shape. beenzmail, we do need seating for five. I will send you a message because I would love to see your photos. We probably will end of making the fridge counter depth. I hate spending the money since our current fridge isn't that old, but we may have to take the plunge and sacrifice something else. We will be eliminating that table because we have another one in our dining room and don't feel the need for both. bethohio3, I have a fairly good idea of what the second sink would cost because of some other work we had done in our house about six months ago. We *may* be able to swing it but having a good idea of where this current design would fall price-wise, I am not sure it would trump (I am sick of that word, aren't you?) some of the other wish list items we have. But it is a possibility. Regarding "Other than the 2nd sink, what are your qualms about this plan?"... I think the long run of cabinets may be too long (and expensive). Also, the main sink would end of being one of the first things people see when they enter the front door. Unfortunately, in our household, dishes have the tendency to pile up and I would like to keep them out of sight as much as possible. Hi! Did you ever find out what they are? I'm experiencing the same thing but live in Georgia. I totally understand your pain. My fiance don't believe me either and the problem is only getting worse. They are EVERYWHERE even the car. I have a newborn and a special needs son who has cerebral palsy, a feeding tube and a tracheotomy. I have spent thousands of dollars on different products and exterminators. But NOTHING helps, only makes it worse. PLEASE HELP!
