Collapsable Dining/Coffee Table-pics and need advice
Comments (4)Do you need more than 2 heights? Coffee table and dining seem to be all you need. The table in the video looks like you can select it in black with a base that has hidden storage. I like the fact that as a coffee table the surface is much smaller than when raised to the dining height. Does the one pictured also do that? Anyway, the video looks like raising and lowering the table is very easy and quick. And that table in black would be my first choice....See MoreHELP!! I Need Gel Stain Advice for Dining Room Table & Chairs
Comments (14)Thanks for all your advice. I'm so glad that I didn't just rush in and start this. From the sounds of it, I WOULD HAVE ruined them . . . :^0 . . . OMGosh! I need to run all this by DH. He's been encouraging me to call up and order a set I like that I saw in Phoenix Home & Garden magazine spread. I can't imagine ordering anything that big and expensive sight unseen, though. Hmmmmmm, there may be a weekend trip to Scottsdale in the offing ;^) In the mean time, I need to decide whether I want to paint the set a brown first and them give the Gel Stain a go or just leave it as is until I get a new set. BTW, I haven't looked into having it professionally stripped and redone. I probably should. I can't imagine a red or blue table in our dining room, though. I'll have to think about that one....See MoreDining Table - Need advice on table top and leg finishes
Comments (8)Thank you JudyG and Kirsten! So that's two votes for the white with nickel. I'm starting to feel a little better for sure. Yes, we're definitely wanting a large rug under the table. Any suggestions for color? Darks, neutrals, bold? We'll probably do a china cabinet as well, but not a piece that matches too closely with the table....See MoreDining Room Starting Over--Need table and Lighting Advice
Comments (3)Thank you, Patricia. I am trying to find a place for the cabinet. I like your idea of putting it in a closet. It was hard downsizing and losing 1500 square feet of space. I got rid of a lot of furniture! Below is a sideboard that I still have in another room which I can use in the dining room if I need something to "ground" the picture. (Sorry for the picture quality.) I still have the Marge Carson dining room chairs (one seen in the picture), so I don't need chairs. I put in another outlet in centered on the picture wall so that lamp cords plugged in the wall won't show like this one does in the picture. Even though my dining room is open to the kitchen, I want something dramatic for this dining room. It deserves a statement chandelier (thinking about a gold/gilded one. The room was previously painted BM Van Deusen Blue. I remodeled the kitchen and took down the wall between the two rooms to let in more light. Then I changed the color to BM Ballet White. I miss the blue... I like your idea of a round table. Would you suggest that I use a round or square rug? I just need to be mindful of the passageway from the foyer to kitchen that goes down one side of the dining room. This area of circulation is used a lot. Below is a shot of my living room to give you an idea of the space near the dining room. I hope this helps to spark some ideas....See MoreKW PNW Z8
