I raise most of my cats indoors. It gets too hot and humid here to leave them outside, as the host plants wilt. However, we keep our house at 78 degrees. I had some other thoughts. Does your area spray for mosquitoes in the summer? Pesticides can cause problems. And, I had problems with spray from our aerobic septic system. I lost some Monarchs that were on plants that were in the path of the spray, as the spray is used to water the lawn. So now I don't plant anything for the butterflies close to the spray pattern. If your plants are new, they may have been treated with systemic pesticide/disease control which stays in the plant's system for a long time. It took me a bit to figure out about the aerobic septic spray--and I lost a lot of caterpillars. Hoping you are able to isolate the problem--don't give up! My animals always seem to know when I am in need of a buddy, and generously share their time and my lap/bed space. I think it has more to do with sensing an overall need to give and get comfort than dying. I remember my mother's internist was hell bent for leather to talk her into getting rid of her little companion, a sweet and sensitive bichon who gave her an immense sense of joy, and was her ears as she began going deaf. He felt that since she had a balance problem the dog might trip her. We never did and she never got under my mother's feet. She just "knew". My little mixed breed schnauzer of many years ago also took it upon himself to be the constant guardian of my foster babies. When their parent would come to visit, he would park his little tweed butt between the stranger and 'his' baby and never take his eyes off of them. LOL. And when my ancient siamese mix cat Satiko's end was near, she was stuck to me like glue. She "knew".

Fertilizer most likely has nothing to do with corking, I asked about what you posted. Is that fertilizer ready-made solution or concentrate to be dissolved in water? Instructions for 'squirts' sounds strange to me but anything is possible (I am not suggesting that is your idea either). Questions I asked are about basic needs of succulents: free draining potting mix; container with drainage hole; lots of light; good air circulation. If these are supplied, the plant grows healthy and it is much easier to care for. Your plant doesn't look sick. Corking is natural. Plant is possibly bit lighter color than what it should be, but it is difficult to say for sure from a photo. If there is not enough light, the color usually gets lighter and plant starts to etiolate - stretch, trying to reach more light. It would grow 'skinnier' or with longer parts, and sparse spaced leaves. It will not die but could be weaker. Most important is good drainage: succulents should not have 'wet feet' - that could easily happen if the soil is too fine and it stays wet too long at the bottom part of the pot. It is difficult to tell sometimes, especially if potting soil contains too much peat that appears very dry on surface. Watering plant may seem to be appropriate, but it could be still too wet. If this happens and continues for extended period, it could cause rot.

WATER AND MORE WATER! They should have been kept soaking wet from the day they were planted. It wouldn't stop some sunburn- but would have mitigated the damage. For the Howeas its going to be a slow recovery- years. The King palms are much faster..but the browned trunk worries me. That's a deep burn. I know it sounds like you watered often enough...but probably not enough or deep enough. A watering ring around those palms filled when watered and then re filled would help. You might as well cut off the dead fronds and start from there. Those are some of the best palms to grow..but the start can sometimes get off on the wrong foot in a hot summer. You might be happier to add more palms alongside now that temps will be going down so you have something nice to look at for now. It would be worth it instead of getting all frustrated waiting for those to recover. Best luck!
