Need opinions on an accent wall!

We are going to do a dark green or navy accent wall in my son's room (1 yr old). The wall the crib is on is what is straight ahead of you when you walk in but it's kinda small. Should we do the accent wall on the wall to the left that's bigger with the dresser? Or keep it on the crib wall straight ahead?

And would curtains look weird on the windows since they are nonsymmetrical and narrow? It feels like such an awkward space to decorate!

I would switch the Change table/dresser with the Crib.

Navy or Green, nice for the little wall,

some geometric designs for the bigger wall for your Son to look at.

and a new whimsical light fixture, something interesting to look at.

Never had a baby, but I know that windows can bring cold draft in winter. Any reason not to switch as Lyn said.... ?

Bathroom will be done today. An existing tilted chrome mirror will be hung. I purchased the wallpaper from Wallpaper Direct ( online order). I took a quick picture of the door that has black door molding around door. I will not any additional black. I will pull a color from a fish to add a towel to dry hands.

If that looks too dark, you can always move to the lighter version, Tranquil Blue, 2051-50. Or ask them at the paint store if they can split the difference between the two shades. The equipment is quite advanced these days (my husband and I got a dissertation on it from the clerk the last time we bought paint, which was only about a week ago). I think colors always look darker on walls than they do on chips, so I always go one shade lighter from the one I like when purchasing. This has always worked out for me.

I would make the entrance roof copper that will soon turn dark brown. The metal roof shape should be modified so the high edge is continuously horizontal to void trapped water or an awkward cricket.

No wallpaper on the TV wall, it's too distracting. I would wait to decide on whether or not to change the paint color on the TV wall until you finish decorating that room. For example, the area rug in there seems boring to me. That room would be so improved with a lively rug such as a hand woven tribal. Or if you like a more traditional rug, a hand-knotted Persian is always perfect. The paint colors and the wainscoting are fine, and you can continue the waiscoting in the hallway if you want. I would not paint the stairway a different color. You don't want the house to give a choppy feeling, especially with the open plans they have nowadays. If you are in love with a particular wallpaer, you can cut a few rectangular pieces and put them up spaced, and frame them with pieces of molding and they look as though they are works of art. This looks very nice in a dining room. I don't particularly care for the wallpaper you chose. It is very dense and a bit odd. I would find not restful or happy or inspiring. If you are bound and determined to have it somewhere, maybe have it as an accent wall behind your headboard in the master bedroom. Often people go bold with the wallpaper in the first floor powder room, but I would find it too disturbing for even there. I can't see the alligator piece very well, but I am wondering if it doesn't belong in a children's room? I don't understand what you are asking about the bathroom.

Possibly his 'play chair' could have a table next to it [where crib is]. Or place your chair there.

Thank you all! Yes was definitely thinking about switching the crib to the other wall, just wasn't sure if it'd be weird to have it there since it's not what you see in front of you when you walk in, but I think you all answered that for me :)

Lots of options for that sweet room! I would think about a fabulous whimsical wallpaper if it were me with the background color the same as the wall color so the transition is lower contrast - I feel like the room needs some texture and softness - I would be tempted to do bamboo blinds and white linen panels on the windows (or another color) - maybe a fun navy area rug to break up the beige broadloom?

If I were decorating a nursery, I’d use a wallpaper that sparked ideas for adding items that related to it.

If you like the idea of wallpaper for your feature wall but not the expense, you might want to consider a wall stencil.

I always mention lightweight canvas art and curtains to change a look, because I don't like to wp or paint... but a good idea.

The short wall right of where you're standing for the photo would be good. I prefer accent walls to be those with no other architectural features.

I would plan for a toddler room and put the crib where the toddler bed will be. Because once you actually have the baby, you will not have time to redesign as he gets older. Blink and he will be walking. So think about toy and clothing storage that is appropriate for a toddler (who is into everything), bedtime stories, playing with toys on the floor, etc. You toddler will pull on curtains. You can put up some cute, inexpensive art that you can change out easily as he gets older, from baby to young boy.

@ShadyWillowFarm thank you, that's actually what we ended up doing! We're going to do the accent wall on the wall that the dresser is currently on and then move his crib there (and eventually bed when he's older). I think it'll make more sense in the long run. Appreciate your input :)

Switching crib and changer is good idea. This way you can peek in and not be seen. Agree, kiddos will pull on curtains.
