10' accent wall in open floor plan, design decor advice needed
Comments (58)@Beth H et al.. yes, and I'm really thrilled with all of the recommendations, everyone has style and it's great to see varying opinions. So I don't want to think anyone has wasted their time, I think down the road in the near future, we will go with something built out pretty much like you were suggesting early on. As we just finished the remodel within the last year, we are not up for building anything out or even tiling the wall at this point. We don't need new furniture at the moment (kids will ruin it anyway). For now, we were looking for something minor / superficial, if that's the correct verbiage. While we know now, that it may not look "perfect", it's where we're at now. That said, we don't want to do anything (now) with the fireplace, what we are open to is: some type of shelving (which would have to be shallow in depth, I think), definitely plants (faux preferably), artwork or like I mentioned (which may have gotten lost), is maybe B&W canvas print collage (I'm a part-time photographer and we have zero photos of our kids displayed). We are also open to putting a small corner piece to the left side, but it would have to be very small footprint as we only have about 12" from the wall to the lightswitch near the slider, but after hearing/seeing some of the plant options, I think we prefer that. Another note, we (I) have a floor subwoofer to the right hand side, you can see my wife's aerogarden sitting on top of it until we find a home for it :) Hopefully, that helps, again, I really do appreciate everyone weighing in and taking a lot of time for the mock ups. -Matt...See Morewall mural opinions needed
Comments (27)After seeing the Monet-like shading of the flowers I would not put a chair rail in front of the mural. I would suggest including some yellow and purple flowers to make this look more natural. You rarely see large stands of a single variety of flower. The purple flowers can be slender with a few blooms vertically along the stem and the yellow ones perhaps like small daisies, to give a contrast with the large white flowers. If it were me I'd have a rabbit or two hiding among the foliage and some birds flying in the sky. I'd also give the hills in the background a bit of a bluish haze....See MoreHelp! Need your opinion on how to fix this accent wall (Pic incld)
Comments (8)It would drive me crazy that the top of the doors do not line up with the fireplace, and also that the knobs don't line up with each other. How badly do you need cabinets there? Can you just put rock over the opening for a more streamlined look? Or at least redo with more modern knobs or no knobs at all. I wouldn't paint them gray because they won't actually look hidden, just like you tried to hide them, but a do think a very dark gray or black (like Iron Ore) would be better than the wood. I don't think something as drastic as ripping out the upper wood is necessary, but I would paint it the same color as the walls so it doesn't compete with the fireplace....See MoreNeed opinions: is this print too much to wallpaper a wall?
Comments (11)@calidesign LOL, well, you know what they say about guests and fish after three days... @Margarita Bravo I like the one wall idea. Plus, a lot less expensive. I have the same print in fabric. I could do a chair or chaise. Would that work? Walls white? @HU-18752810 this print has incredible sentimental value for me. I want to try to use it if I can. But I do have another guest room I'm doing next. That one will be lighter and brighter I think....See Moreeverdebz
