Paint Exterior The Old House

exterior stucco paint combos- suggestions welcome!

We are looking to paint our 1920s stucco home in the northeast this summer and color combos have us stumped!! We want something light and bright. I was inspired by the house in the 2nd photo. Our roof is green and we are having a hard time visualizing this with colors for the house.

Any help, advice, suggestions please! Thank you!

Can you post a larger picture? Is the entire thing stucco or was the bottom brick painted?

There are some stucco homes in our neighborhood that remind me of yours (but we are very landlocked, coastal/beachy is at least 2 hours away). It is neat to see this style home in another location! I agree w/the others that changing the landscape will make the biggest impact. Pink seems like it would be a nice option, or maybe a coral (since your neighbor has an aqua home). But if you are choosing between paint OR landscape, I'd pick landscape. Then, depending on what colors end up in your landscape, you might have an easier time choosing a color for your home :-)

I really like sage green (I have some form of sage green in both my family room and master bedroom). I think it would look stunning with your wood wall. I have also painted almost all the ceilings in my house with a color other than white - something lighter than the walls.

Keep the faux timber details on your home they add interest and texture. Here are some homes with stone that is similar to yours. I think your home could benefit from contrasting paint trim around the windows & perhaps actual wood for the 'timbers' on your stucco. Any paint colors should be pulled from the colors in your stone except for the bronze for the windows. I think your home could look much better with upgraded garage doors like you see below.

So my house is the first picture- it’s not brick, but stone. The stone is not painted.

Proceed w caution—I once asked a pro house painter about painting my stucco (as in I was trying to hire him) and he told me ’I will do your interior; painted stucco always looks like crap.’

The picture in the original post has white columns. My dad photoshopped them in as we’re replacing the iron posts with wood columns before painting.
