The lippage system that was used has straps that extend perpendicular out of the grout joint as all of them do. The problem arises when the straps are pulled straight out or snapped by knocking them sideways as the system used does. Normally there would be a spacer or wedge between the modular stones to level them as well as the straps for the lippage system. The weight of the top stone would be on the wedge. Not the lippage system strap. Unfortunately the installer allowed the weight of the above stone to rest on the lippage system strap by using it as a spacer. In the installers thought process " it can't be done without chipping" Yes by improperly installing the stone he actually could not remove the straps without causing damage to the soft stones. This will certainly be a lesson learned for the installer and I'm willing to bet he won't do it this way again. Provided he understands what he did wrong. You may want to share this thread with him. It really is a nice looking stone. Keep in mind with the ceiling lights that close, any lippage will be exaggerated and even if the joints are flush there will still be a shadow. Hope this helped.

I have tried multiple applications in an attmpt to get rid of the haze. So far the most success I have had is with Mapei ultracare epoxy grout haze remover. It takes a lot of time and scrubbing. I applied the solution to a small area. Let it sit 20 - 30 minutes and then scrubbed with a sponge scrubber. Rinse thououghly afterwrds. It takes a great deal of time and effort to do a small space. My entire kitchen has grout haze. I have finally hired a floor company to come and strip the floor - I don't know if it will work any better but I don't have the time to spend one hour scrubbing a square foot of kitchen tile.The tile and grout is lovely - I just wish my contractor had known the grout was not like ordinary grout.

“My husband is installing it himself, so I was trying to make it easier on him with a sheet tile.” It takes a lot of experience for people to properly set small mosaic tiles on sheets. You see the problem more in penny tile (do a search on this forum for “penny idle” and you will see what can happen), but even 2” tiles could suffer the same issue. It is difficult to set the sheets with proper spacing on all four sides. Since the tiles that are on the mesh should be uniformly spaced, what happens is that tiny differences in the grout joints between sheets become visible and then you see the individual sheets in the finished floor. Unless your husband has experience with setting mosaic tile, consider doing the room floor in large tiles, where it is much easier to use a spacing system.
