What color should I paint the front of my house?

I am getting some parts of my house paintied soon and im wondering what color to paint my front brick. See link for pics.

Details:

Plan to paint the white around door black and maybe black on windows but may keep windows white?
Plan to remove shutters because they are in bad shape. May get new ones. Hard to imagine what it will look like without?
I was thinking a lighter grey to brighten things up?
House is white siding (which I dislike)
Pictures of back of house included. Planning on painting decking and balcony a darker grey, specficially grizzle grey from sherman williams.

I would not remove the shutters and I like the color of the house as is.

I think your house is charming and has great curb appeal. Maybe just paint the pillars and the porch furniture the white trim color?

I would want the sides and back of the house, the same color as the front. I agree, pick a color from the brick. Garage door will look good painted same color as the house, so it doesnt jump out at you the way the white does. Nice house. Love your fencing.

Like the pergola over the garage door idea. If built to be sturdy enough to walk on it, then it could serve as a fire escape route should the need ever arise -- certainly hope it never does. You might also consider painting your step rails and side supports the same color as your siding unless you're planning to have a wood finish door and/or a rustic porch and post addition over the entry at a later date, in which case you'd want those additions to have the same wood finish. Thanks again for the input. I tried a color visualizer, but it turns out that I have the artistic ability of a 4 year old on acid. Id love to be able to see some greys or even dark blues and how that would look....(if any of you more creative people have extra time). Thanks again, this community rocks!

I’d look at Farrow & Ball, Dulux, and Edward Bulmer colors. Do searches for them with ’front doors’ and lots of images come up. It is a very charming house. I would remove the shutters and not replace. Your windows are nice and the shutters detract.

The porch posts seem unnaturally orange. Is that stain? Could they be stained a darker color?

I would repaint the house in a more friendly color. It’s pretty dull and drab. A strong navy with bold white trim?

Your house is beautiful as is ! I would not do any black and gray ( not sure how gray could brighten it up). As was mentioned I might look into changing the color of the posts. It is surely not drab.

Do remove the shutters and decide if you want to head into charcoal and cedar since you already have the posts installed.

I think I would want to lighten and brighten. Maybe SW Comfort Gray or Sea Salt

I would remove the shutters and paint and then decide if I like the redwood posts or want to paint them and decide if I want to add shutters.

I would keep the white trim (including around the front door.
