If your looking at a resale at some point, I’d stick with a more neutral stone ( even cabinets) and add colored accents to bring in color. You might want to steer clear of grays and a lot of cool colors in seattle (isnt it rainy a lot?) I may be wrong lol If this is where you were going to be for a long time, I’d make it the way I loved it. Good luck

Mine hasn't yet been installed (new construction), but this Nuvolato Blue slab will soon be on my kitchen island (stained maple cabinets) with Negresco perimeter. (Try to ignore the reflection from the warehouse lights; it's more blue than gray, and the darkest lines are navy.)
It's my home and I made the decision based on what made me happy, not what some future buyer may or may not like some years in the future. ETA: My island will not have any cuts into it (sink, etc) so WYSIWYG.

Have you considered how that blue slab will look once it is cut into perimeter counters only...not a large island that shows off most of ?

I love the blue. I’m not sure if these are the exact slabs you’re choosing between, but the blue with the gorgeous design in the middle could be a challenge in templating. Full island slab, no sink? It’d be amazing. Chopped up between appliances, I’m not sure - I’m no pro. I actually like both of your choices but would be drawn to the blue because it is one of my favorite colors and unique.

How deep will your counters be and will you be able to use the part of the Venato slab you fine attractive i.e. for me, it would be the middle veining?

Thanks for the great responses everyone, and for the vote of confidence on the blue. We aren’t planning on being in this house for a super long time, so that is why I was thinking about future buyers. There is also a difference between loving a slab and then how it actually looks in situ. I’ve seen tons of white kitchen countertops, but very few blue ones that I actually liked.

@barncatz Thanks for pointing out the other article about the Calacatta quartzite. I’ll definitely have to do some more research to make sure it’s actually a quartzite.

@Connecticut Yankee These are the exact slabs I am trying to choose between. That’s a good point about the templating. We were also discussing this as that main vein that runs through the center is really the star of the show. One option we considered was cutting the backsplash behind the range from this section. I’ll upload a sketch of this later.

Please share any more photos of blue kitchens, experiences with quartzite, etc. I’ll post a sketch of how we’re thinking of templating the slab. Also, has anyone used a 3cm quartzite as a range backsplash? Could you use it as is, or did it need to be cut down in thickness?

Hand painted Italian. tiles were purchased 22 years ago. we retained the backsplash last year when we got new cabs and the quartzite. i have not experienced any staining or etching. i love our kitchen! happy place
