cost/quality of quartz manufacturers
Comments (63)jpdunlop- My post above has an old link to the NY Times with plenty of articles on Chinese products and recalls. Let's not pretend that Chinese manufacturing practices are the same as in the US, or the products they use to produce these cheap as possible goods have vigorous safety standards. Does the US produce junk? Of course- every country does. But no other country seems to produce as much "unsafe" junk as China. Of course it's up to the individual, and based on how popular Walmart and it's ilk are, we'll continue to import the crappiest of the crap, because we want the cheapest of the cheap, and just take our chances. But if I don't absolutely need to buy Chinese made or sourced, which is nearly impossible these days, I won't - my choice....See MoreComparing Cost of Quartz Countertop Companies
Comments (91)The cost per square foot wholesale has the same relationship to you as knowing what the meat wholesaler charges the restaurant for the filet that you want for dinner. The important thing is how well the chef prepares that filet. All you really want to judge is that final bill, and what it covers. If the steamed broccoli is a side, or included with the meal is irrelevant if one restaurant is known for serving shoe leather. Any prices in this thread are going to be completely irrelevant starting right about now. Expect a minimum 15% price increase, due to the tariffs. Some will have more than a 15% increase, as the labor of stone fabrication has stayed fairly stagnant now for over 10 years, and this is the time to rectify the labor market. It won’t be just quartz that is affected either. Most stone is imported. Most tile is too. Almost everything construction related is already high due to the hurricane rebuilds starting last year, and we now have another massive rebuild staring us in the face as well....See MoreMSI vs Titan Quartz Countertops
Comments (2)Both these colors are made in china, but don't be totally taken back by that. The important thing with both brands is to check what sort of certifications each offer...there are many off brand Chinese quartz materials that do not have any certifications and may potentially have the issues that @mayflowers brought up above. I have worked with Titan Quartz many times for my clients kitchens (islands and countertops) and the calacatta venezia is a great option. This color is NSF, IAS, and SGC certified so I've been confident recommending it to my clients (plus it has a nice residential warranty)....See MoreLooking for a SUPER WHITE quartz
Comments (7)When I checked into MSI about two years ago, some of their colors were being manufactured in China using a different manufacturing method than Breton. You'll need to ask them which ones are Chinese. Some of the Chinese quartzes have had chipping and pitting because they cure the resin at lower temperatures and for a shorter time, so it's not as hard as Breton quartz....See More- 2 years ago
