MSI vs Titan Quartz Countertops

My wife and I are planning to get new kitchen and bathroom counter tops.

Based only on the look we want (after looking at all brands in our local shops - Ceasarstone, Daltile, Stonite, Silestone, Pental, Cambria, etc.), we have found two options:

1. Titan Calacatta Venezia

2. MSI Calacatta Vicenza

Titan was only available at one shop we went to. We don't know much about it; does anyone have experience with it? Has anyone installed this MSI quartz? If so, how much should these cost per square foot installed and please share your experiences with either brand or color.

We would also appreciate it if anyone can recommend another brand/color that are similar to the above options. What we want is a very white quartz background with grey spots, not a lot of veining. We don't want any brown tones at all - just white and grey. We also don't like the "spottiness" that was most apparent in Silistone.

My guess is that Titan quartz is Chinese and does not use Breton technology like Silestone, Cambria, Caesarstone and other established quartz companies. The price per square foot is a dead give-away. MSI also sells some Chinese quartz but some of their colors are Breton-manufactured. You'll need to ask. There has been surface-pitting and fading issues with Chinese quartz reported here.

Both these colors are made in china, but don't be totally taken back by that. The important thing with both brands is to check what sort of certifications each offer...there are many off brand Chinese quartz materials that do not have any certifications and may potentially have the issues that @mayflowers brought up above. I have worked with Titan Quartz many times for my clients kitchens (islands and countertops) and the calacatta venezia is a great option. This color is NSF, IAS, and SGC certified so I've been confident recommending it to my clients (plus it has a nice residential warranty).

Hi! All of your comments are helpful. We are currently shopping for a kitchen countertop and I'm ready to pull my hair out! Right now, there are 11 samples of quartz countertops in our kitchen. We really like a Caesarstone rough matte 'Airy Concrete' that seems to be standing up to our testing so far, but I'm not sure after reading many negative comments about matte surfaces on various internet sites. We also really like a polished quartz from European Aleanza "upper west side". Since we are getting high gloss white cabinets, were thinking of going with a more matte surface. Now I'm not sure. We really want low maintenance. We visited a European Aleanza showroom here in NJ, and it looks really nice. Anyone familiar with this company?

I am a fabricator. If the fabricator has to buy slabs specifically for your job then whatever is left over is waste you pay for. Slabs are typically 55 -65 sq. ft. and many kitchens fall into the 50 - 75 sq. ft. range so more than one slab is needed. Your best opportunity for the lowest price is working with a fabricator that stocks a color you want as he can use one full slab plus a partial slab as the leftover material goes back into his inventory for the next job. Given the preceding it is still to you advantage to shop different fabricators as pricing can vary significantly from shop to shop. The fabricators that sell only a single brand will almost always be the highest price per sq. ft.
